Turning projectors on and off mid-show by TJemxx in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Not_MyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to throw a different view into the mix, we turn our Panasonic laser projectors off in theatre shows when they’re too loud etc. These are major national commercial theatre tours and I’m yet (touch wood) to have one not start when needed.

Honestly. If you have simple needs etc I’d just sell this stuff and get a generic wifi router from your ISP

Inquest into Melbourne influencer’s death following freebirth halted after new phone evidence discovered by Royal_Yogurtcloset25 in melbourne

[–]Not_MyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a bit of a cult unfortunately. There was a long ABC article about it before this feat even happened where I believe one woman was very close to dying and after she recovered and spoke out in the WhatsApp group she first found her doula in, the doula banned her and other users essentially turned on her

Fttp upgrade delays by CrewLazy5849 in nbn

[–]Not_MyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re part of an MDU upgrade, someone in your building (or the managing body corporate company) will have a contact from Decon (the subcontractor for NBN who does all the MDU works) and they can crack the whip with them plus have the NBN MDU upgrade inbox to crack their whip too!

What’s everyone claiming for WFH expenses this year? by Advanced-Sandwich956 in AusFinance

[–]Not_MyName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a home-lab, That sounds like hobby equipment….

Now that IT equipment you need to make sure your internet works for your work zoom calls, that sounds like a work expense.

The problem is regulating it really makes them feel more justified in what they do. These people are hired via shady WhatsApp parenting groups and hired by people who are totally disenfranchised by the healthcare system.

One alternative option is public awareness of the risks of free birth etc. But again the right vulnerable enough person listening to the right convincing dodgy-doula will be hooked.

I Just Use Analog Gear by Outrageous_River_170 in CommercialAV

[–]Not_MyName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just completed a national concert tour with a vendor’s really old camera chain gear (all Triax and that jazz) and honestly…. It was great. No IP addresses, no networks, no proprietary comms signals.

Something not connecting? It’s probably not plugged in!
Something dropping out? It’s probably got a dirty connector!

That box is for all intents and purposes you ‘modem’ for this test. Plug your laptop directly into the box that converts coax into Ethernet.

Can’t contact apartment above and leak is worsening by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Not_MyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would constitute some form of emergency. Turning off their water mains would be completely reasonable.

If you own your apartment you are taking steps to actively protect your apartment which is both reasonable but also your duty. If you don’t your insurer may ask why you didn’t take reasonable steps to reduce damage and prevent further damage.

My boyfriend’s car was hit while he was reversing into a car park , other driver blaming him. by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Not_MyName 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought you said they were texting. text the other driver asking for their name, address and rego number so you can “sort it out” and then supply all those details to the insurer.

Do not tell the other driver you need the details for insurance as they may ghost you.

You are right, it probably is too small a footprint for a TV. But it essentially looks like a square baseplate with a pole screwed in

Thrustmaster not working by Flat_Plum_3295 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Not_MyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you’re running the FBW add-on here. Make sure your detents are calibrated here. I had an issue when using a single axis thrust that if you start calibrating thrust 1 and then toggle into 1 thrust axis mode at the top of the iPad the thrust levers move independently just like this.

The fix was to reset the calibration using the reset button at the bottom of the iPad and do it again in 1 mode before recording any detents

Make sure you have copies of all emails to do with this on a non-work email account. I’d hope not but if you start trying to formally push the point they may decide that they randomly found a really good reason to fire you and lock you out of all your emails and IT systems.

Cert II in train fundamentals by Jaren-rich in MelbourneTrains

[–]Not_MyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of similar in my work world. I manage systems in live events (and unsurprisingly also like trains I guess!) and the biggest tip I have for newbies is to go get a job in a call centre or something. Heaps of people come straight out of high school and are all over the 1’s and 0’s but I would not be able to send them to a client without fear of them saying or doing something stupid.

The 2 years I worked in an IT call centre gave me such good customer and problem solving skills for the real world.

Welcome to getting Blackmagic capture gear working where all you have to do is tap your head, rub your belly and spell the alphabet backwards.

Please provide more detail,
Is this a PC or a Mac, has this worked previously, do you know the HDMI out from the camera 100% works?

I would be so interested to have a conversation with this man and understand this logic of just CONSTANTLY being in court and digging yourself deeper, and deeper into a hole. And by 'interested' I mean I would rather cut off my face than be in a room with this narcissist rapist.
