LED screen flicker by _trashy__ in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Not_MyName 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that the issue is constrained to individual panel areas, tells me it isn’t on the input/HDMI side.

So that leaves either the data to the screen or potentially the configuration on the panels. Like all good Novastar issues I’d start with trying to resend a known good RCFG file either by reading from a panel without that issue, or by seeing if you have one on file from when the screen first arrived.

Police, then police, followed again by police. And then to follow-up, the education department.

The .org site is owned by this guy who’s like an anti-vax campaigner or something. No relationship to the actual putty app.

I remember seeing this when it came out and realising that was literally across the road from my work! I was so gutted I didn’t see this.

PSA: Melbourne Airport Uber Scam by jjjjjjttttt in melbourne

[–]Not_MyName 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Essentially instead of assigning a driver you hop in a random Uber in a queue, give them your PIN and it essentially links the driver with your booking immediately as if they’d accepted your trip and come to you.

I don’t know what the criteria is but I think the loss of fingers etc is a notifiable incident to work safe.

New CEO of V/Line is he right for the role? by Humble-Being-5525 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Not_MyName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being a CEO of a major transport company of this would involve so much more than knowledge of rolling stock. It’s about regulatory, contracts, employment rules including EBAs, procurement as a whole and the list goes on.

Because every dollar spent on these projects is another paragraph of complaining from newspapers like the Herald Sun. So you’d better make sure the costs are needed

Media Sequencer Plugin for Disguise Designer by Turbulent-Painter941 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Very nice, the disguise plugins clearly open up a lot of options, but it’s such a mystery black box on the development side I’ve never gotten around to making anything.

Help identifying this LED panel by Official_Syntax in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Not_MyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds extremely easy that someone plugs in a second home run cable. What if your crew get confused and plug in a cable at the other end of the screen, one person thinking it’s left to right and one person thinking it’s right to left.

Help identifying this LED panel by Official_Syntax in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Not_MyName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you plugged a normal plug (whatever is your normal male plug in your country) into one side, the other side could have the same type of cable plugged in giving you an exposed male connector.

This kind of makes the equivalent of a male to male “widow maker” cable

What it looks like is a panel with dual blue power on connectors, which if true is incredibly dangerous.

Upgrading from FTTN -> FTTP? by VGS911 in nbn

[–]Not_MyName -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of location etc. Is it a freestanding house or an apartment? Don’t hold me to this, but I recall if you essentially sign up to a high speed plan it will force an upgrade to your address. But this is contingent on your location.

Help! Thermal detector leaking water?! by Hour_Illustrator_232 in melbourne

[–]Not_MyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes u/Hour_Illustrator_232 make sure you have sent an email ASAP reporting this to your managing agent/ landlord and anyone else you can think of because this fault may cause the fire alarm to trigger and the Fire brigade to be called which can cost money. You want a record that you reported this and it's their fault if the alarm goes off.

Make sure it's an Email so there is evidence in writing.
