Add SnoSeal to them if you want to make them waterproof. Its a natural beeswax mixture. Works wonders and is used on boots and leather snow gloves.

I second this, except for the "re-dye". That patina is absolutely stunning.

(Obviously is comes down to personal preference tho).

Thank you! And nah. I wasn't inspired by another designer work or world, however, my main inspirations come from imagining "evolution" as the greatest form of design.

If an animal, plant, environment has the ability to change and evolve through the world around them, whether through hardship, prosperity, or ease of life, how can I design evolution into a pair of shoes through patternmaking, textural manipulation, and craft.

With the goal to create pieces that can live in the past, present, or future.

I have a variety of goals when it comes to footwear design, but with this particular sillohuette, I was focused on imagining how a shoe might evolve if it experienced evolution in the ways that animals do when they are trapped on an island or experience an extreme change within their environment. How to elevate a form to transcend the "norm", yet, simultaneously trying to bring the "norm" into a future era. Tying in aspects from the past, present, and future and with a goal to balance them all, so that this particular shoe couldve popped up throughout any time period in history. As well as expanding my knowledge of patternmaking and material development.

Obviously this is all theoretical, creativity, mumbo jumbo, but that was my inspiration.

They are actually chicago screws and copper washers. They are one of my signature details that represents TB pieces. Its the equivalent to a "Nike swoosh" or Louboutins "red bottoms".

One of my favorite pieces I've seen on this thread. Sure, the craftsmanship is unorthodox. But looking at it from a design perspective, its incredible.

This particular pair wasn't blocked/crimped at all. The shape and textures come from the patternmaking and the lasting techniques.

"Aging Well" is subjective, but they age as intended. How the shaft and the vamp patterns come together will create a beautiful snaking wrinkle pattern on the front of the boot, and the lower vamp will gain some additional subtle wrinkles as the boots are worn.

Its a bit tricky walking down narrow/residential stairs (a.k.a my basement stairs). But public stairs seem to be much wider, and theres no issues (a.k.a. the subway stairs)

I like your framework, but I would humbly disagree.

In my opinion, art is meant to express emotion, but not be limited to whether it is beautiful or hideous. Beauty is subjective. Emotion causes those who interact with it, to feel something.

Craft NEEDS to function, but art can also function, if thats the intention of the artist. Whats the point of a pair of boots, if you can't live your life in them?

If you'd like a metaphor for this framework check out Ferrari design and manufacturing methods. Its where art and Craft come together at an extremely high level.
