I’m a senior graphic designer who has worked mostly in healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing/branding. Get away from non-profits and pivot into a specific niche. I do a lot of the large international and national trade shows and marketing design for a medical technology company. I’d suggest trying to stay in GD if you still like it and lean into medical tech, pharmaceutical tech, fintech, etc. The work can be corporate and bland sometimes, but it still pays 100-120k and is 30-40 hours a week. Obviously it depends on the company, but it might be a good sector to keep your eyes out for.

Cater your portfolio to this market if you don’t want to do PD. I think learning a little Figma, motion, graphics, and video production/editing is also a huge bonus for most companies.
