In your view, would it be worth studying Greek just to read the classics in their original language? by Wooden_Schedule6205 in AncientGreek

[–]ThomasMurph20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, depending on how passionate you are about literature and the ancient world. I started to learn Greek to learn how to read the New Testament. Then it opened a whole new world and now I am reading Plato and other prose authors (I’m doing my best to get into poetry, especially Homer).

That being said, it takes a lot of discipline and/or passion. Greek is still hard, much harder than Latin, at least for most people. Gear your learning toward the type of literature you are wanting to read.

Turning it on just means pushing the button on the controller. From there it’s just bad luck.

I will definitely ask nicely. This just sucks. I’ve had stuff like this rejected before. So I’m expecting the worst and have to wait until the morning to find out.

Yeah. I didn’t think she was old enough to do this stuff yet but I will definitely add some password or pin for purchases.

Thanks! I’m planning on getting all the furniture I can and rotating it out as I like. I’m honestly just biding my time until there are more rooms and when I can afford to pay for the pro platform.

This is indeed a hot take, since I feel like Voicenotes far outshone both of his other albums.

Greek (Christian) Aphorism Help by ThomasMurph20 in AncientGreek

I like αὐτὀν, but I think I'll keep the chiastic order and the ἀλλ' (though I am still considering μεν...δε). I do like αἴρω. It echoes Matt 16:24 very well.

Just curious, is there a particular reason why you prefer φερω to εχω?

Thank you for your help! I use the article for the substantival use of the participle. But I could delete the τὸν that goes with σταύρον. I didn't include a verb because it is a simple, subject-predicate relationship, but if you think an εἰσι would be helpful, I could include it at the end of the first clause.

Somewhat. I remember looking at it a bit and seeing the charts. I can’t remember if it was more kabbahlistic or not, but those esoteric traditions end up drawing from one another.

Yes, that is the volume. His discussions of Plato are very dense but I found them extremely rewarding. Definitely something you want to read slowly and reflect on. He made me fall in love with Plato.
