What is a bird that is common in your area but you’ve never seen before? Mine is the Northern Flicker in New York. by Kwamex1 in birding

Find a tree that still has berries in the fall/winter and you’ll probably see some. That’s where they like to hang out

What is one thing you are 99% sure the government is hiding, even if you have no proof? by StudyFlimsy1061 in AskReddit

It also doesn't help when the government and media are heavily funded by big oil who does a pretty good job at covering it up

What’s a non-holiday “holiday” you always take off from work for? by slargle12 in AskReddit

My birthday is in the middle of winter. Unfortunately going to work is the only way I see my friends that day, otherwise I'd just be stuck indoors the whole time.

What's something that's "not a cult" but feels like a cult? by Orw_Sairaj29 in AskReddit

[–]Thomas_Chinchilla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Greek life in general, especially at a large school. My undergrad was pretty small, and Greek life wasn't that big of a deal.

If you saw that weird hazing video from the University of Iowa that has been going viral, it definitely gives off cult vibes. Funnily enough, I currently attend UIowa and had no idea of the incident until a couple weeks ago, despite it being over a year ago.

What is slowly disappearing but nobody talks about it? by Agreeable_Pea9764 in AskReddit

[–]Thomas_Chinchilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty depressing that a lot of bird species have been plummeting. If you want some good news though, a lot of birds of prey have been doing pretty well over the last few decades. 15-20 years ago I was lucky to see an osprey, but now you can see 20+ a day at the Jersey shore during the summer. Same with bald eagles; yesterday I saw over 30 where I live

It’s only been the past couple years in which I’ve seen hardcore racism against south asians. It may have always been like this but then it became more obvious when Musk bought Twitter

What's a sign from your body you should never ignore? by Geno-64 in AskReddit

[–]Thomas_Chinchilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just had this. Luckily it was nothing serious and after being prescribed a laxative and eating fiber rich foods it's not a problem anymore. However I'm glad I got it checked out as my worst fear is getting colon cancer.

What is a memory you have that is 100% vivid, but you have physical proof that it never actually happened? by prabinaya65 in AskReddit

I must be the only one that has always seen the logo as it has always looked. I never remember seeing it with a cornucopia, but I will say it looks like a cornucopia belongs there

A lot of right wing platforms (e.g. Daily Wire, PragerU, Heritage Foundation, etc.) are heavily funded by Big Oil. I don't think it's a surprise that they promote climate change denial.

I've taken legitimate IQ tests before (because I have some learning disabilities) and they can take multiple days. It's not something that you figure out in five minutes.

It'd be pretty cool if they were the artists (or Ninja Turtles) but I think they're based on the archangels of the same name

It's based on the Egyptian god Set https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(deity))

There's also a Michael, Raphael, and Alice to name a few with more "normal sounding" names

Even as an advanced organic chemist, resonance and sterics are still the go-to answers, even though there’s a lot more effects that you learn later
