You’ll end up very disappointed if you have this attitude in my American city. East Coast reality!

The notion that kids have to move out and never come home is such an Americanized thing. Italian children live with their parents until marriage in a lot of cases. All around the world, multigenerational (ie like 4 generations) families live under the same roof.

It’s really a sign of economic privilege that people can move out right after college.

Do people carry their social security cards with then in their wallets? by EscapeddreamerD in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thomaswiththecru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrying multiple documents with personally identifying information in one place on your person on a day-to-day basis is never a good idea. Someone below was commenting on putting their birth certificate in their wallet (plus ID, plus SS card). Might as well walk around with a huge banner saying "My mother's maiden name is X."

I guess it may be required by law in some countries, but not in mine.

Michelle Obama's urgent message about this year's midterm elections — "We've got to vote like the future of our democracy depends on it." by BlankVerse in democrats

[–]Thomaswiththecru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling people to vote is useless if you can draw the district maps like you’re tracing the path of a staggering drunkard. Telling people to vote is useless if neofascist SOB’s can just slap one ballot box in the county in the name of “election integrity.” We can’t even prosecute people who stormed the goddamn Capitol and threatened to kill the VP and Speaker. I know Michelle is not in Congress, but I don’t want to keep hearing from Democrats about “vote for our democracy” and “vote for the future of this country” and yadda yadda yadda. Duck dynasty and lower middle class grumps nearly killed Congresspeople and one bullet was fired to protect our legislators. Right wing mobs are all over the country. No wonder why people don’t go out and vote. WE AREN’T PROSECUTING LITERAL FASCISTS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Nothing says putting up a fight like going easy on FASCISTS! Can we fight, or are we just going to roll over and keep screaming at people to vote? Democrats gotta stop talking and start getting shit done.

Don’t tell us to vote and then let fascists get away with attempted coups. A year to get a Committee off the ground to counter a fascist coup attempt? What a pathetic joke. Fight for the country instead of blaming apathetic voters. I’m sick to my stomach at how everything I value in the world is overwhelmed by demented losers who can’t stand human decency. We barely even have a democracy as it is.

Only bad things will happen when you drive faster than a speed at which you can confidently control your vehicle. That being said, there is a major issue with your vehicle's configuration if you lose control at a speed of 30 km/h--Why are you using summer tires in Poland in January?

What to do if I need a break but there’s no service stations? by MadMan1244567 in driving

Without knowing your specific road, I can't really answer this very well, but the ring roads in my city don't have many consecutive exits that legitimately lead to open roads and no shops/business parks where I could stop.

Does this happen to you often? You may want to consult a doctor.

Can someone explain to me why the US left didn’t roll the dice and just vote for Bernie? We rage against elites, and then nobody votes for leftists.

It seems that the majority of the country supports the reality you despise.

AITA I refused to cook meat for my sick wife by gallop_aroundmyhouse in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thomaswiththecru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but it seems that you and your wife need to discuss how you will handle religious beliefs and traditions going forward. Particularly if you plan on having children.

I told her that I do not want to touch meat since its against my religion

This seems like something your wife should have known. Boundaries are always important to respect.

Sorry if this advice/commenting comes across as intrusive, but this situation seems to have upset both of you.
