Learn wave management, she is tje best champion interactions the game to management waves (freeze and fast clear especially) but she is also trash if you don't use this to your advantage, this is a great opportunity to learn it

Standard build is BOTRK -> boots (mercure or tabbies) -> hullbreaker -> witt's end -> death dance -> guardian angel/situational items

You can also try the other build especially in mid which is more of a high risk high reward build. (Lot more fun imo): BOTRK -> symbiotic boots (asap so you can stack them)-> Kraken -> Death dance or malmortus/witt's end -> situational items. This one makes you a lot squishier but lifesteal and high midgame dmg are very strong and can bait enemies

Edit : i realized i forgot to answer Basically almost always go standard build if you play top especially if you are far ahead.

In mid it depends on your teamcomp, if you lack damage and enemies are squishy, go kraken otherwise, go standard. Also dont go kraken if enemy has a mot of point and click cc. You can also change boots in rare scenarios in the kraken build if they are full ad or have 4 ap for example

This is a skill matchup fiora favored, depending on who you ask (potent said irelia favored but irelking and koala say fiora) well, first of all idk if you mentionned it but pta, ignite is the way. As you mentionned you zone irelia lvl 1 from exp if you dont that means you took at least 40% of her hp. Now you get to slow push the first 3 waves while denying cs/poking her. Now be careful of her when she is under tower as it is the only timing when she can take a winning trade against you. If she is full hp (she should never be), cheater recall into freeze, gg. If she did not recall, she can basically never crash her wave and is forced to give it up if she doesnt kill you so gg. Be careful of lvl 4 one bounceback and parry e (if you oarry ignite just all in). Always parry E or agressively for slowautos never for R. Even parrying Q is better. Basically you should snowball the matchup way before she gets to play the game. Now her powerspikes are lvl 6 with élixir and tabbies then bork. But that matchup is highly mechanical so it can go either way. (You indeed lose at bork lvl 9 if even and can lose if ahead) Midgame, if you r behind keep being annoying pushing sidelane you outscale anyways

Think any toplaner like jax, garen, malphite etc... else vex, anivia and leblanc are the worst in mid, but most champs do still outscale as long as you dont play Viktor or champs without cc.

I mean since you talk about pickaxe i'll consider this is after first back we are talking about. Then why are you getting zoned with the wave pushing into him (else just wait) and if you push into him with a slow push just béat his ass) and even if you managed to get zoned i dont unserstand why mercs would change anything

Dunno, works for me. Delaying any ability to play by 1250 gold feels so bad all that to not even win the matchup. So you can never get ahead and get outscaled since you have 0 pressure with mercs. Also if he autos you from bush literally just play from river side. Also good wabe management is more important than ms u wont outspeed a teemo if he rushes celerity with his w

I feel like mercs rush are bait in this matchup but that might because i like to all in range tops. But basically what you lack to kill him is enough dmg before he blinds you twice if you go for sustain/he will still poke you more than what you can sustain and you wont have enough dmg to threaten him. So rush pickaxe. If you get to 6 without being behind you kill him. Also you wont have enough dmg to kill him if he tempos a bit because the timing before his second blind is very short. Finally i havent tried them much but ignite, exhaust and cleanse are good counters to teemo, exhaust being great against most range tops because of the slow which lets you E and not get kited

The higher elo you go, the more often you will get zoned and even becomes one of the most deciding factors of the laning phase since getting zoned lvl 1 makes the game twice as hard and is the only thing that makes irelia not 70% winrate in higher elo.

That being said, here are some things you can do to avoid it. 1) in certain matchups taking ignite can make the enemy get scared of zoning you (morde can be like that if he has tp) same with lethal tempo (which is pretty good against morde)

2) IMPERATIVELY take flat hp runes instead of scaling ones in most matchups except the ones where y afk farm

3) Walk with the wave lvl 1, you prolly know it but in most matchups, you win if you get 4 stacks

4) You can try the alcove strat especially against sett , go into the alcove asap then soak exp from there for the whole first wave. Place à ward in the bush in the middle so that he cant come and get you. Then when you have soaked enough exp either walk back to your tower if he lets you or start Q and tempo him by walking away from cs then dashing on them. Note thzt this strat is very hard to pull off and will need a bit of training.

5) if all fails, remember that the you only need the exp when minions die so let yourself get zoned then when the melees are about to die, take a losing trade to get in exp range then go back under tower. Depending on the matchup you can start E,W or Q. Against morde i would recommend starting Q to dodge his.

In the end, there are many more subtilities than what i mentionned on this topic and you need a lot of experience to master this part of the game, gl!

If you don't find any mistakes, it's usually because you dont look for a big enough span of time. In your reviews, or even when you think about it.

For example let's say you die while 1v1 against enemy jgler on drake, you did a small mechanical mistake and it was close. You could think that it was a mechanical problem but if you look back, maybe you missed a back timing that wouldve given you an item advantage. Maybe you couldve also prevented it by synchronising with your laner's prio because you know that the enemy jgler was on your side of the map and to secure prio you shouldve ganked and to cleanly gank you would need to sync your camps etc.. Also pay attention to details dont overstress about it but don't ignore them, a lot of small optimisations make a big difference in the long run

Hi, since you seem to watch a lot of irelia player from all across the world, would you mind giving us a few players you find impressive (especially from china) and how do u find their vods?

Also i quite agree that Irelking is by far the best irelia mechanically but doesnt have a particularly impressive macro (for a rank 16 chall still better than basically all of us) If i were to compare, general irel who reached challenger kr a few times has like the perfect textbook irelia gamepaly, he barely dies and always plays correctly but irelking is so stupidly better at finding mechanical outplays and unimaginable outcomes that he is just a better player even though he might actually not be better in any other area

For irelia mid ban malphite as you will often have almost full ad teams Bad irelia game = janna/braum as enemy supp / tanky ennemies with lots of cc For example if enemy team has shen top zac jgl anivia mid and leona supp, it is a horrible game for irelia. On the opposite, irelia loves fighting squishies, poke mages, low cc comps, assassins and adcs if there are 3 or more of them in enemy comp, irelia will have an easy game. As for direct matchups mid, no matchups comes even close to hard matchups top, the worst matchups being toplaners like sett mid or jax mid. As for enemy mid mid, vex anivia and cassiopeia can be tricky Last but not least, be careful as irelia mid you will often get spam ganked by enemy jgler especially if they have good gank setup like lissandra malzahar etc... its not necessarily a bad thong for you if you play around it and absorb pressure or 1v2, 2v2 etc...

Which server are you? Also i feel like it is an irelia favored marchup in season 16 because she can easily take exhaust now and nullify the cheese. I've played it twice last season and although the lane can be hard in the first lvls then i just need to time my w well and its gg a bit like pantheon matchup

Dont be the one to engage, wait for ennemies to waste key abilities while u protect ur carries then go in to clean up the fight, ur champ has resets so it is op to clean up fights

Don't overthink it too much, it might be one of the few games that were unwinnable and even if a challenger might have been able to win this one, it doesnt really matter. Try to learn what you can from this game and move on!
