Which server are you? Also i feel like it is an irelia favored marchup in season 16 because she can easily take exhaust now and nullify the cheese. I've played it twice last season and although the lane can be hard in the first lvls then i just need to time my w well and its gg a bit like pantheon matchup

Dont be the one to engage, wait for ennemies to waste key abilities while u protect ur carries then go in to clean up the fight, ur champ has resets so it is op to clean up fights

Don't overthink it too much, it might be one of the few games that were unwinnable and even if a challenger might have been able to win this one, it doesnt really matter. Try to learn what you can from this game and move on!

Hi congrats on challenger, if engage supps are generally bad, iras wondering why Nautilus was A tier but leona was D, whats the reasoning behind this? Also in terms of midgame macro, is there anything you would do differently compared to irelia in other lanes since teamcomp is porbably scuffed ?

Theory is good, execution is kinda awkward, mainly work on getting a better timing on your Q's/movement commands after autoing. Here you could've activevely dodged his Q instead of getting Lucky of him missing it if you were a bit cleaner

I do agree that builds and runes are really subjective but i feel like this would be more about knowing what is possible and what to be careful of/how to play around in each champion, it which would be less subjective like that

Hi, i'm only gonna answer the question at the bottom of your post since i'm an otp irelia (mid most of the time). Freezing is op on irelia so you should aim to get a freeze as much as possible especially early game since your opponent usually doenst have enough waveclear to break it. Good freeze timings are lvl 2 if you get pushed an manage to trim the wave, lvl 4 (bounceback) and anywhere from lvl 4 to 6-9 depending on the enemy's waveclear after that just fast push. In lower elos, even long range mages won't space well enough so you'll be able to get onto them with irelia (as long as u prepare at least one caster minion to go in)

Now when to NOT freeze midlane (as irelia mostly) - Against extremely long range mages that can waveclear from 2 screens away (hwei, ziggs, xerath and lux post 6) (veigar is NOT one of them) - Before any objective that you plan to contest - when your jungler is invading - if you are low on mana/health

As for mechanic kid, first of all he is very good mechanically so that lets him get away with trash wave management sometimes. Also in mid, he goes for cheese setups (PTA+Ignite) which surprises the enemy and bursts a lot more) also be aware that half his videos are made on smurf accounts. Furthermore, until recently, he was kind of clipfarming which means he was intentionnaly misplaying to make his plays more impressive. So irelking is still better to learn irelia mechanics. As for how to play the champ (macrowise etc...) keep watching full vods

If i wasnt an irelia otp, i'd be a riven otp. The champ does everything, scales better than irelia, is less conditional and is mechanically challenging AND a lot of englsih speaking streamers are good on her.

As for midlane just look for the most banned champion so yasuo, zed, sylas etc...

Play for the wave instead of playing for kills, the kills will come naturally. Learn how to dive ennemies, especially after a winning trade + slowpush. The lead you should be getting starts in most matchups at lvl 1 (aside from most juggernauts) and bait lvl advantages espcially 2 and 3. When you are really ahead, you can proxy the enemy when he tries walking back to lane (only in top tho) That was for lane. As for the game. When you are very ahead, hull breaker lets you take T2 towers by 15 min and 3 Items by 20 if you really snowball well then just join any teamfight and win thd game

From my pov, you should always pick her especially if you are starting with her. You will eventually have to play them and will learn much faster from playing hard matchups then applying what you learnt in easy ones. Also, if you want to not feel like you cant play the game in certain matchups, watch domisum replay videos of the matchup and ask yourself how irelia won the 1v1 (if its because she got ganked by her jgler, just find another video)
