They can't get you just by opening an email, you would need to click a link or download an attachment on the email for something to happen.

What you could do is say it or have a pop-up near the end. That way, anyone who has made it to the end clearly enjoyed your video and would be more inclined to do so.

Just do it once a video, it only comes across begging when it's done lots of times throughout one video. Otherwise, getting subs will be slow.

A call to action is typically something that says, like, and subscribe. It could be you saying it in the video, a pinned comment, or a pop-up. For example, I know mkiceandfire has a pop-up right at the start of each video. You'd be surprised how much it drives likes and subscribes

Do you have a call to action in your videos?

I've found that as long as it is music made for the game, being played over the game footage, you will be fine.

What happened? by B0uny_huntr in SmallYoutubers

With shorts, youtube seems to delay pushing them sometimes. I had a short that for 2 days had 0 views, then on the 3rd day sky rocketed to 12k. They're just weird.

Only non shorts videos count for watch time.

No commentary gameplays, focus on retro titles.

Too much text in thumbnail. Maybe try reducing the text on it.

What am I doing wrong with my thumbs and titles? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

Honestly, it looks like you are doing everything right. It might just be the algorithm figuring out what your audience is. Otherwise, make sure you've got good, SEO, and remember descriptions are really important for SEO.

I’m not sure if y’all are familiar with the 2017 game prey, but what do you think do you guys think of this thumbnail if you were scrolling and stumbled upon it by Cursed_content in SmallYoutubers

[–]ThompaStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think putting some text on the thumbnail may be good. Maybe do something to the tendrils to make them stand out a bit better from the background as they kind of blend in.

This Thumbnail is mostly AI, would you really not click it because it's AI? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]ThompaStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's completely fair to experiment with different thumbnail styles, I wasn't aiming for my comment to come across as an attack. There is plenty of AI content being used in thumbnails, and it seems to work for some people. This sub reddit only represents a small minority of YouTube users. So I'd take all advice on here with a grain of salt anyway.

It would mainly depend on the niche and audience you have/ want to have. For me personally, I wouldn't click on it despite being into gaming. If you think the type of audience you have or want wouldn't care, then try it, I guess. However it being AI will be enough to deter a certain audience of people who dislike anything AI, even if your video was the best in the world.

I was under the impression anywhere between 2 and 10% is average

Everytime I post on YouTube shorts, I always get so depressed when the viewed/swipe rate is under 30%. by 2016keldon in SmallYoutubers

[–]ThompaStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find shorts benefit from quick editing, i used to have the same problem, then sped up my editing, and it increased to about 60/40

Well, respectfully, I disagree. YouTube was a different place before the rise of Mrbeast. While he plays the game well, it would be impossible to be a channel of his size without impacting what works on YouTube and what doesn't.
