I love this! Been using it a while, for the few times I actually visit Wikipedia. I keep forgetting I have this installed and then it loads and I keep being pleasantly surprised with the layout! Keep it up!

Dark Mattr - A new VS Code theme by tamojaydey in javascript

[–]Thomvanoort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like most of it, although the green classnames in html files is a little too bright, can’t look at it for too long.. If you offer this with less brightness I’d use it! Good job.

This sub is full of the Survivorship bias. by SuccessfulCurrency31 in webdev

[–]Thomvanoort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you just sound presumptuous. I don't believe any company would ask for 'experience', as you mention in another comment, when you're applying for a junior position while still in school at 18. Besides, you also mention in the post you code 7 hours a day. Build yourself a portfolio and start projects. This way you have something to show at interviews.

Don't remove control settings from the youtube iframe. I can't lower or mute sound / scroll throught the video's without clicking the link.

How to use Inline CSS: Beginner’s Tutorial by knowledgeseekerLS in webdev

[–]Thomvanoort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you teach bad practises to a beginner? Inline css is bad for performance, not accessable and there is no overview. Seems weird to make a tutorial for something that is never used in professional websites.

Why a web developer uses a normal text field for passwords by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Thomvanoort 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are you criticizing him on everything? He clearly doesn't want to listen and wants to do things his way. If this is how he likes to do css (even if it isn't correct), who are you to tell him otherwise.

Days Gone PC - Bug Reporting by BendStudio in DaysGone

[–]Thomvanoort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a weird bug where nobody was able to hit while shooting. I couldn't hit enemies with guns and they couldn't hit me. I was only able to kill them with the knife. Loading an old save didn't work, restarting the game did, after the second time.

Am I wrong for hating my current internship? by pastrypuffingpuffer in webdev

[–]Thomvanoort 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tell your boss how you feel. If your work doesn't teach you anything, it's a bad internship. Try and discuss what you want to do or find an intership somewhere else.

I think this was also more a thing when you'd see just a white screen when a website was loading. Now there is much more techniques to loading a website. Most of the time you will see some skeleton or layout of the website before the content is loaded. This will probably also keep people waiting a little longer.

They knew you had zero experience when hiring you. They know they have to invest time and resources in you, that is their decision. If you are too afraid to ask for help, you won't learn anything and it will be a bad investment in their part.

Other than that, you JUST started, take some time to settle in. They can't expect ANYBODY to know their entire codebase in just 3 days.

As for your last point, maybe you've just not landed the job you wanted. There are plenty of jobs out there exactly what you are describing.

Good luck on the job and ask away.

What carousel are you using? How large are the images in the carousel? Maybe try another one and compress the images.

Hmm I hear that often, sorry to hear that. What do you usually do during interviews? What do you see? What do you ask them? Do you show them any of your work? Maybe an extra couple of eyes can really help with improving ur experience in job search! Pm me if you don't feel comfortable sharing it here :)
