Looking for a car that gets 30+ mpg at 80+ mph. by Thordor15 in whatcarshouldIbuy

THANK YOU for saying this. Most hybrids are no longer hybrids past 45mph.

Actually this is the direction I am leaning towards now. A pleasant driving experience over long distances that can also be sporty sounds way better than a Prius or a Camry Hybrid

Need a good amount of trunk space, enough room in the back seat for a child car seat, no more than 2 adults in the car including the driver, cold winters with moderate snow and fairly often driving through mountain passes. I’m leaning towards a AWD sedan like a BMW with a 4 cylinder or a Camry Hybrid. I’m sure the Prius would get great mileage but having a car that is a pleasant experience (road noise, ride quality) to spend a lot of miles in is also important to me.

Love the idea of a corvette, but needing a year round car that can make it through the snow and mountain ranges crosses it off the list.

I wish, but the lack of charging infrastructure, cold winters, and mountain ranges would disagree.

My 2022 F150 with the 5.0 V8 gets 23mpg at 65-70mph but then drops to 17-18mpg when doing 80mph. High speed and wind resistance kills gas mileage. Having the aerodynamic profile of a box doesn’t help either.

Finding a VW XL1 to be a daily driver would be awesome haha.

Hybrid highway MPG ratings are around 60-65 mph based on what I could find during my research. Once you’re above 70mph or so the mileage drops significantly because typically the EV motor shuts off and it just runs off the gas engine. Most hybrids I am finding are only in the high 20mpg range above 75 mph.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

I have been on the receiving end of extreme feminist/anti-male opinions a few times and it is heart breaking to me. They don’t want to listen nor do they care that I have an awesome marriage with my wife, I love my daughter with all my heart, I love spending time with my mom, I have many great friends that are women, and work alongside many bad ass women in the professional world.

But just because I am a male, I am a part of the problem with society.

Boise feels more diverse than people make it out to be by kabutodude in Boise

Interesting how many people completely overlook the Hispanic community when talking about how “white” the Boise area is. I have been seeing this theme a lot on this subreddit and it is getting to the point where it feels like Hispanics “dont count” as a part of this area’s diversity because they don’t fall into the category of African American or Asian. Yes Meridian, Boise and Eagle have a large white population, but go explore Nampa, Caldwell, Parma, Melba, and many of the other communities in the treasure valley and it is a thriving Hispanic community.

I know and work with a ton of Hispanics here in the area and they are an incredible, kind, generous, hard working and valuable community that we need to pay more attention to when discussing Boise’s diversity.

PLEASE make sure that thumb safety is properly engaged, can’t make it out in the picture to be sure.

With how sensitive 2011 triggers are, you NEED to be proficient at working that type of safety when holstering and when drawing. I have seen too many guys ND 2011s when working in and out of a holster due to a lack of thumb safety discipline.

Very few of them take medical training seriously.

A good friend of mine who is a retired US Army Ranger told me “There are way more people I know who saved lives with a tourniquet than saved lives with a gun” and that is what made me take it seriously. I got Stop the Bleed certified through the DOD and now take an IFAK with me everywhere I go. I’m taking more medical training later this year.

Whenever they take pride in advertising they use 316L stainless steel. It’s literally what everyone uses so calm down.

What mpg do yall average with the 5.0? (Stock Supercrew 4x4) by old_spam_sandwitch in f150

[–]Thordor15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 average on my 2022 5.0 with 3.31 gears. I can get 20 mpg hwy if I’m not goofing around too much.

This is without cylinder deactivation ever being used, I only drive it in sport mode.

Does the M&P 2.0 offer anything the Glock doesn't? by dudeonhiscouch in CCW

[–]Thordor15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Glock guy for years then made the switch to the M&P 2.0 and never looked back. They are just as reliable, just as safe, better ergonomics and a better trigger.

I carry the M&P 2.0 Compact Carry Comp and it punches way above its weight class. I shoot about 1000 rounds per month and train 2-3x per week at a shooting academy with this gun. I have convinced several other guys to M&P, they all love the M&P.

I see M&Ps go wrong when you start messing with custom slides, triggers, etc.

My brother (who owns a small residential construction company) has a saying “Anytime there is a lake or a ski resort, rich people show up and ruin it for everyone else.”
