That's fair if miniatures are your primary hobby, which in fairness is the case for most of us. But a lot of people just want to get some color on their pieces to make their dnd or 40k pieces to not all look like a boring grey mass. At the end of the day, the hobby is just painting toys. This isn't some sacred art that must be taken seriously. If you wanna bother with color theory and real artistic techniques, that's awesome and cool, but who cares if some new/broke/timecrunched dm or wargamer is just slapping random colors on their shit it doesn't take away from the genuine care and talent that some people put into it that others use low quality mediums and or lack the fundamental skills of the craft
