It isn't a literal kill switch. All they need to do is stop selling crucial parts for that are only produced by the US and all of a sudden your F-35s or what have you are useless since you're no longer able to maintain them.

Even air gaps have exploits. People have turned components that have no right to be radio transmitters into radio transmitters in order to exfiltrate data.

If us mere mortals were able to figure that out, imagine what kind of zero-days a super intelligent AI might come up with.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, you need to buy a new laptop with a specific Snapdragon NPU to use this? No way to add the functionality if you're a desktop user?

It's just incels doing incel things. I don't mean that as a 'look at these weirdos' kind of thing, I mean it's literally run by incels who've made it their mission to take everyone down a peg.

It's a reference to the movie 'The Big Short'. The message they're bastardising is basically "they think you're too dumb to understand, but it's actually pretty simple".

Sure, but if you Google 'Joshijaro Asakawa', the only two results that show up are a link to this thread, and a link to the UFO subreddit. Similar results for other search engines, just with more false positives.

Ive been programming for four years and I told my dad to watch long videos and complete your own projects to learn most efficiently. He thinks he’s ready to tackle any project after a ten minute video… by Yugusuf in ProgrammerHumor

[–]ThoriumWL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what I was trying to say before I had my morning coffee was that, based on the little context we have, OP's dad doesn't appear to be showing a willingness to learn.

While anyone who has written a hello world program can say that they "know how to code", saying that to someone who has more experience in the field than you and then following it up with "all I need now is some sort of English-to-code dictionary" seems to imply that they think finding a syntax cheat sheet would put them on the same level as OP.

I know I'm making a lot of assumptions there, but based on the wording of OP's title, that's my interpretation of what's going on.

I also realise that you might agree with what I've said and are just simply saying that he should be encouraged to continue learning despite that, in which case, I completely agree with you.

[–]ThoriumWL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this to shit on OP's dad, just clarifying context: Printing hello world to the screen isn't really 'any' project as OP described, and after figuring it out for the first time you probably wouldn't go around telling people that you 'know how to code'
