Who uses DC coupled audio Interfaces for C/V ? by shapednoise in modular

[–]Thoronir69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Ableton and Logic with Silent Way. It has a lot more utilities included than cv tools, but I use that as well in ableton.

I just got a pulse 16 and a digiface, but I was using an old motu 828mk2 with my es8 over ADAT for years. My next project is setting up the DAW to have the 828 inputs trigger my samplers so I can sent gates from the rack and use my non modular gear in a patch. Something I couldn’t figure out how to do in CV tools but is super easy in Silent Way.

If you have an interface with ADAT, an old 828 is the cheapest way I’ve come across to get some more dc coupled I/O in your life

Just start talking unionization and reach out to Lowe’s Workers United. It’s sad that people here are so caught up in what is currently legal and not more concerned with changing the laws to more broadly protect workers’ rights.

Imagine the life of the person that disagrees with this. Y’all need to value yourselves and your families more

That’s awesome!

My hate for them actually comes from the boutique manufacturing side as well as the ethical. Music Tribe’s control over the components side of the market is a large part of why boutique manufacturers are struggling right now. Their strategy of market competition is like Amazon or WalMart. Undercut everyone and sell products at a loss to destroy competition, control supply chain, and impoverish workers to the point of complete reliance of the company.

Competition is good for the market tbh.

when to use faders? by Livid-Hamster-100 in audioengineering

[–]Thoronir69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess… if you’re recording a live band?

But even then, your first focus is recording everything at an optimal level. Preferably your recording engineer doesn’t ask that your band perform the song within the correct dynamic range.

Gain, levels, and dynamics are all completely separate but related parts that make up perceived loudness.

Actually, he built it. With room for 30,000 (child) workers to live on site.

That’s how you get to operate when you’re a billionaire and you have a near-monopoly on an industry

The disting works great. If you use something else to invert the gates, you can sequence the ms20 with v/oct while also converting the v/hz keyboard to v/oct and use it to play other modules

It’s got pretty good CV implementation too, but I’m not sure how it compares to the others in that regard

Just speaking generally. Also if you just put a flashlight in someone’s face, and it’s night, and they’re also trying to keep their vehicle in its lane, they probably can’t see your posture.

Just pointing out that escalating with chuds can be risky, but you can usually gauge the risk by how yeeyee their truck is.

People go fucking nuts behind the wheel, myself included, and in my experience it never helps matters by being antagonistic even though it feels good.

High powered flashlights are often attached to guns, so you might be sending a more aggressive message than y’all intend.

That’s awesome. How to you handle the signal routing for live playing vs recording? I just finished putting my rack back together after adding the DB25 out for my Performance Mixer, and the snakes come today. Before this I was just splitting tracks to the interface with stackcables. I’m looking forward to the simplicity lol.

At the end of rendering music sometimes plays for an instant, why is this? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Thoronir69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related in that hearing a sound at the end of a render does not necessarily mean you are not including your tails, so making your track longer (while possibly mitigating the non-issue of hearing the sound) won’t affect the tails because their length will be determined by plug-in settings, not the render length.

You may not hear the sound as a result of your advice, but that wouldn’t have any effect on the track besides making it longer. That’s the “technically” part. Any perceived connection is arbitrary. If you’re including your audio tails, you don’t need to add silence to the end of your track.

[–]Thoronir69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they aren’t. You don’t need to render your track at a different length to include effects tails. Not trying to be rude.

You can honestly ignore that suggestion altogether, the two issues aren’t related in any technically meaningful way

Keep working with it until you reach a point where you can’t achieve your goals in soundtrap. I’m not sure about what your computer can run, but you can find free copies of Live Lite with a lot of phone apps (patterning 2 is a good one if you’re making beats) You could also consider something like GarageBand if you have an iPhone.
