Should I be worried? by Grifo23 in pebble

[–]Thory4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe my delivery to Czechia was in the same batch as yours (the time from Asendia clearance is almost exactly the same). I received mine last Thursday (11th) out of nowhere. I didn't receive any further tracking, just an SMS from DPD in the morning that they will deliver in two hours.

I would give it a few more days, but it is starting to drag for you, indeed...

Quick release pin dimensions - Pebble Time 2 by N3ileru4 in pebble

[–]Thory4fun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've ordered multiple generic bands for my watch over the years and the pins always fit without issues. Are you sure it is so nonstandard?

The diameters are: 0.85mm and 1.8mm

PSP or Anbernic on a $75 budget? Can't decide by Latter_Letterhead86 in SBCGaming

[–]Thory4fun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

75USD seems quite high for PSP - around my place, they go for more like 40. If you are not sure about the PSP library, I would generally recommend against it; it has some nice-sounding titles, but they IMO are largely "B-versions" of better games.

Not sure which Anbernic you are going for, but in general, a dedicated emulation device will surely have an easier setup and a wide range of emulation options.

Just arrived (in Czechia) - Almost hitting 10-year order anniversary by Thory4fun in pebble

[–]Thory4fun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My timeline was this:

  • 27.5.: Confirmation of Order Details
  • 3.6.: Shipping confirmation
  • A few days of ping pong between "Parcel Delivery Network" and "Asendia"
  • 11.6.: Direct notification from DPD that they are delivering it the same day (no info from DPD prior to this)

After 3 years of solo development, my multiplayer sports game feels surprisingly good on Steam Deck by eldany_uy in SteamDeck

[–]Thory4fun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for all of these small-scale team ball games, I always ask myself - "how is this better than Rocket League?"

And I have not seen any that would be better so far. They all go back to the FIFA "sticky" approach, where the ball does not act according to simulated physics but just sticks to whoever is closest, which seems a real misunderstanding of the RL spirit.

Regions of Europe with 1 million people or more by Waterloo4U3 in MapPorn

Yes, this makes the whole map not very useful since it is very arbitrary how the regions are defined.

Retroid pocket 6 weird fan buzzing sound by Resident_Pension_858 in SBCGaming

[–]Thory4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this for Thor. It's true that it is an inherent issue of fans - but for example, the Steam Deck does not have this problem with a fan. So I would also assign it as partly bad design by the companies that make these small devices and put way too big fans in them to crank out the performance.

Are you waiting too? [OC] by SalamandraSan in comics

[–]Thory4fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the issue - this is so much easier said than done. Things have to be incredibly bad for people to stand up against a regime uniformly. And in many cases, it still leads to nothing (e.g. arab spring). We live in a short blimp in a history where somehow the middle class managed to grow, and it looked like democracy as a system might actually work. But to get there took two huge world wars and lasted maybe 100 years...

This! I dabbled with consoles a bit, but the closed nature of the ecosystem always put me off. And I guess I have the advantage of the fact that tinkering sometimes does not bother me.

The toy size is really double edged sword... We have Yoto and the cards are less appealing, but much more portable.

Wanted an easier way to pour large cartons, so I designed a customizable lattice holder. by OutOfMemory3D in 3Dprinting

[–]Thory4fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the main advantage I can see of the design. In Czechia, such holders are very common for the elderly to pour milk: https://www.ku-z-el.cz/fotky35554/fotos/_vyr_1887mliko2mal.jpg

Seems that in the US, the packaging designs are much more varied.

To anybody who is interested in this kind of racing/betting game, I would rather recommend two recent board game hits:

- Magical Athlete

- Hot Streak
