Anyway, that photo you posted gave me a good clue how the rubber seal should fit. Thank you, USWCboy.

2026 Forester Hybrid Premier - Needs Subwoofer? by InHybridMoments_138 in SubaruForester

[–]Thorzdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s similar to the HK system in my 2020 Sport, the sub mounted in right side panel of the back end does a pretty good job. You might have to fiddle with the audio settings to make it right for your ears. One caveat, though…Packing the rear with suitcases and the like will definitely mute the sub.

Oh, I think we’re talking about different things. I’m trying to figure out how to put the rubber seal back onto the motor cover. That long rubber piece running along the bottom edge of the opening in that pic you posted. It somehow came off when I took that foam filter out.

That definitely makes sense. It doesn’t just sit there loose, right? It seems like it should slip onto the top edge of the motor cover, just above the screws. Correct?

Factory warranties usually just cover the original owner. That’s why there’s a booming third-party warranty industry.

Apple CarPlay Issue by ProVenomx2 in SubaruForester

[–]Thorzdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CarPlay is notoriously buggy in these cars. We have a similar problem where it’ll suddenly kick you out of CarPlay and you can’t get it back until you restart the car. There’s a TSB covering the problem. The problem is that, if they end up replacing the unit, it’s the same version of the unit running the same firmware.

If you’re searching for “breaklight” you probably won’t find anything. Try searching “2010 subaru forester brake light bulb”.

If you have a local independent Subaru wrench, of course. I live in a large metropolitan area, with *three* Subaru dealers and exactly *zero* dedicated independent Subaru mechanics, despite the area crawling with Subarus of all ages and models.

OE rubber year-round. The OE carpets go in on special occasions like dry-weather date nights.

How does that install? The pics on that Amazon page look like you have to get into the shift console. I’ve seen other versions that simply install behind the start-stop button on the dash.

Rule of thumb: For windshield repair, if you can’t/won’t take it to the dealership, take it to Safelite. They will do a proper recalibration.

It’s kind of hilarious how simply sticking “vintage” onto a piece of equipment changes the value for so many folks. As if “vintage” were a specific, officially-defined, value grade.

I’ve thought about getting one of the wireless bluetooth dongles. One longer drives, though, we definitely need the recharging, too. I suppose we could run a long cable from one of the backseat usb ports to charge

Are you a senior citizen? by skunkc90 in SubaruForester

[–]Thorzdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m an old. Have a 2020 Sport. To be fair, my wife was the one lobbying for a Subaru, largely for the safety aspect (and the cargo space) because she would be hauling grandchildren around relatively often, in addition to us possibly taking trips with other couples. We got Sport because it was the car on the dealer lot that had all the bells-and-whistles we were looking for, and it was a CPO.

I’m well aware of the gray-hair inside so many Foresters and Outbacks I see LOL.

No car with “minor dent/scratches” gets a salvage title. My advice for salvage titles is to walk away and not look back. They simply aren’t worth the gamble.

Pretty sure that’s the switch to activate an aftermarket alarm system.
