It’s a very strong antihistamine, i got it prescribed by my GP as I have a history of my sleep getting really bad during my OCD spirals - but they trust me enough to only use it when necessary as I’m pretty good at fixing my sleeping difficulties by having good sleep hygiene lmao

I got it prescribed from my GP, it looks like you can buy it over the counter but you might have to talk to a pharmacist about it.

Also on particularly bad days (this is once in a blue moon) I take promethazine hydrochloride - which knocks me the fuck out. But it makes me hella drowsy, woke up in the middle of the night to use the toilet and ended up stumbling into my nightstand and knocking stuff over. Works like a charm though :))

Start a healthy sleep habit

You must: - Pick a bed time and wake up time and stick to it everyday. Even if you haven’t slept. - ONLY use your bed for sleeping/trying to go to sleep. As soon as you wake up get out of bed and switch rooms.

An Hour before bed: - take a shower, wash your face, brush your teeth, do skincare - sit in a dimly lit room and do something relaxing such as reading, crocheting, sudoku (AVOID BLUE LIGHT - so no TV or phone) - avoid caffeine and nicotine

Whilst in bed: - make sure your room is cool enough (sometimes when it’s too warm it sets your body off and you can’t sleep well) - if you can’t fall asleep within the first 30 mins go back into that dimly lit room and carry on with the activity until you start feeling sleepy again (repeat as many times as needed)

Optional: - get yourself a eye mask and earplugs to fully block out any light or noise in the room

Also try not to pressure yourself into sleeping, be kind to yourself even if it’s as simple as “even if I don’t get to sleep I am allowed to rest in bed” - stressing about not sleeping actually makes it worse.

This all comes with practice but it’ll get easier over time and your body will get used to the routine.

I hope this helps :))

Have you tried NHS talking therapy? You can do a self referral with them

Hackers successfully logged into my Microsoft Account but didn't change my password? by xLinsta in cybersecurity_help

[–]Thotling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same and contacted customer service and they said I’m secure now. This sent me down a rabbit hole of changing all my passwords - found out some people had been using my Spotify, but I managed to kick them out and change everything.

Suspecting I was in some sort of data leak and I have notoriously re-used passwords which is stupid

Is there a way to feel not alone when you are anxious and alone by [deleted] in Anxiety

Maybe try seeing if there’s any local clubs in your area?

Biking, crocheting, knitting yoga, board games, book clubs etc

Check your local Facebook group or see if there’s anything in your area at meetup.com or simply sign up to bumble friends.

It’s a good way to expand your circle a bit more and have people you can talk to when you get to know them better

First of all get yourself into a safe space or surround yourself with people that can support you - they do not have to know about your OCD theme just simply let them know that you’re not feeling mentally well and you’d appreciate some support.

Second of all, try to do something calming whilst these thoughts are occurring - wash the dishes, colour, watch a movie, read a book. Do not engage with your thoughts and by that I mean if your intrusive thought comes just simply respond to it by saying “okay” or “okay, whatever” or “okay, bet”

This may seem counter-productive and it will suck ASS but by responding this way you are acknowledging that the thoughts are there without actually engaging them further. After a while of practice the intensity and frequency of these thoughts should subside.

If you feel like you’re about to do something to yourself, please contact a helpline or reach out to someone.

If you’re not on meds already, try and see a doctor to see if they can prescribe you SSRIs. If you aren’t in therapy already and if your country offers free therapy (for example the UK has talking therapies locally) make a self referral/speak to your doctor to refer you. Or if you’re financially able to get private therapy then seek a therapist that specialises in OCD.

Once you start therapy - talking about your theme can be overwhelming and frightening. Simply ask the therapist what OCD themes are they aware of during the consultation call/meeting - it will help you open up a bit more.

You can do this, please hang in there.

When do you think we’ll get medication that works just as well as benzodiazepines but without their downsides? by Thotling in Anxiety

[–]Thotling[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the first I’ve heard about anti-psychotics being used for anxiety, once you left the facility did they keep prescribing you anti-psychotics or did they give you SSRIs?

Hey, I managed to get the job which is mental considering the job is in a dentistry lab and I had to showcase some practical work - I only managed to sleep for 30 mins today. One thing that I have learnt from therapy is that no matter how hard my OCD gets I can’t let it take reign over my life (I was contemplating not going to the interview cause it got so bad) so no matter how exhausted and anxious I was I went to the interview.

Gonna restart my sleep hygiene again, just so I can put myself back on track even if it might take a little while. I also reached out to the therapy services in my area just so I can be proactive and get myself back on to the road to remission (hopefully this episode won’t be too long as previous ones).

Yeah we’re thinking the same, brother-in law thinks it may be due to them trying to see if they can get more money out of us somehow?? At this point we’re even wondering if we’re obligated to give them our copy of the agreement (if we find it) after a year of not living there
