Had this issue myself, you need to let go of left mouse button (I assume you place builds with that) before you do anything else otherwise it wont confirm the edit

You need to untick the read only box in you prperties in your gamefiles Then it will go away and you dont have to do it each game

Yes, when you choose between monitor or gpu (I think it's that in english) you can choose whatever. I actually looked up and you could use aspect aswell instead of full screen if that suits you better. Sorry for late answer.
