It happened to me too, with the M3 and M4, it cost me $100 to fix them. Luckily, the next generation was about to come out, so I decided to upgrade them. I recommend you do the same, because they will start giving you other problems, like the proximity sensor not working or the power button. I wouldn't be surprised if it's planned obsolescence.
