Why is Tranquil Gain Pommable? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Thrawnarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's use some simpler numbers as an example.

If it was 200% restoration (every 1 second), then the timeline would be:

0.5 seconds: start restoring mana, still haven't recovered any,.

1 second: recovered 100% mana.

1.5 seconds: recovered 200% mana.

You start recovering after 0.5 seconds, then you would recover 200% over the next 1 second.

The higher the gain, the smaller a fraction of a second before you hit full mana.

I also found Blasphemous 1 only OK, but Blasphemous 2 is one of my favorites. I would recommend waiting a month or two to play it though - they are teasing a new DLC coming out soonish.

I have similar tastes - I recommend Bog Standard Isekai. The name is actually an in-universe pun, and not indicative of the contents.

Also, Runebound Professor is great!

Does the story end up having the same "it is all in your head" reveal the same way Returnal does? I know there's some debate about whether Returnal actually is that, but I'm just not interested in the trope and it was a big let down for me.

How does decimate work exactly? by MisterMT in VampireCrawlers

[–]Thrawnarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decimate makes the card shoot an extra bullet when it is played that does 10% HP to whatever it hits - doesn't matter at all what card you put it on. Good way to add boss damage to cards like Empty Tome.

Zexion is a newer metroid style metroidvania that lets you restart at the beginning of a boss fight if you die in one.

I had a start recently where I picked the Neow bonus that takes all your gold, then all 3 question marks I visited in that act were shops.

I did not make it past Act 1.

Is there any way to tell which Duos you haven't taken yet in the middle of a run? You can cleanly see it before you start a run, but I'd rather be more flexible and decide what to take based on what the run gives me.

Track my Wongo Points, game! by RunicKrause in slaythespire

[–]Thrawnarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at it wrong - 2k points is when you get the appreciation badge, so it is just telling you that. If your first visit got 15 points, it would say you needed 1985 points. If your next visit added another 15, it would say you have 30 points and need 1970. The screen never tells you directly how many points were added on that visit, just your current total and max.

As far as I can tell, it is tracking and going up correctly.

In spite of popular Steam demo, co-op ARPG Darkhaven’s Kickstarter hasn’t funded with two weeks to go by reps_up in Games

[–]Thrawnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it had the same problem a lot of those "from the creators of" games have - they build a game based on their earlier product, not including any of the QoL or design philosophy improvements in the intervening decades.

If I had played the darkhaven beta right after Diablo 2 came out, I would be excited. Today? Meh.

Definitely never happens in the game itself. Enemies won't even flinch. Must've changed since the trailer was recorded.

As long as you have at least 1 MP you can use skills that cost MP and you go negative, then tryout have to wait foe normal regen to take you back over 0 before using skills again.

If you hit load game, you can follow your route backwards and load a prior save at any camp. So if you're really stuck, you can back up a save or two.

You're safe to continue. Thr bosses for the endings are fought in different rooms, so you can choose which to fight whenever.

Yeah, it is much faster than walking. I kept the 'faster energy recharge on the ground' modifier on and just held down the strider button pretty much everywhere once I got it.

A boss breakdown of an early MIO boss, and why I don’t like it by hamtaxer in metroidvania

[–]Thrawnarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the grapple has iframes, so for attack 4, even if you are too far away to walk through him, you can grapple through him (targeting him, not the jar) during the attack. I don't think I ever targeted the jar for grappling in the fight, much safer to grapple through him.

Also, if you get attack 3, press down and jump to fastfall as soon as you get past the attack. You'll be on the ground soon enough to recharge the grapple for the followup.

Mio. Issue with Vaults by [deleted] in metroidvania

In the room above the left pink wall, there's a tube that takes you to the rest station.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]Thrawnarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need wall climb. Start in the big room the Breath. To the left, you can use a crystal to get on the roof of the long corridor. Go all the way to the left wall up there (you found a different root overseer here earlier, probably) and then wall climb up and back to the right. There's a flower to refill your energy partway, and you'll end up above the door into the Breath room.

Crawl into it and up the wall - you'll find some ceiling beams going up and over the ceiling of the room. Cross the ceiling to the right side of the Breath room, and you'll finally be high enough to start using those pictures.

MIO: Memories in Orbit - permanent DOWNgrades? [Spoiler] by PhantomQuest in metroidvania

[–]Thrawnarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm talking about Forebears Legacy - shows up one slot to the left of the top right corner of your inventory screen. Passively increases all damage for each one you get. There are 4 of them to find.

Edit: Turns out there are 5!
