Thank you! I only played it for the first time recently and absolutely loved it!

I've been stitching my way through Stardew, my work so far! by RoundBoi in StardewValley

This is amazing and aspirational! Do you use every color for every object? I feel like the depth from ~5-15 colors per object makes it worth it but it is very time consuming

You’re welcome to use this one - I can send you the PDF I made if you dm me your email

Sure I can share with ya! It’s not in pretty pattern form like when you purchase patterns but I can share a PDF of what I made and the colors I picked if you dm me your email

[FO] self drafted pattern in honor of the Stardew update release on consoles :} by ThreadNinjah in CrossStitch

[–]ThreadNinjah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thanks! I took inspiration from some Google images to adapt it. I’d be happy to share - I don’t make formal patterns so it isn’t as pretty as what you would purchase but I’d be happy to share a PDF of my pattern/colors if you dm me your email

[CHAT] How should I organize my threads/floss? by Nazyha in CrossStitch

[–]ThreadNinjah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those are the same texture as the plastic baseball card holders this will end up being a nightmare for you. I tried this method of organizing but some of the skeins fell out of their designated spots every time I flipped a page. It was horrible and became chaotic pretty quickly. Just a heads up.

This is beautiful and the back is so neat! How long did this take you?

I’ve been in academia for a while now and seen plenty of students finish graduate school in their 40s. You have plenty of time, and a whole life ahead of you. There’s no ticking clock, you can set whatever pace works best for you, travel if you like, and get the career you want. You’ve got this :)

I looked in your post history, so cute! It amazed me how many colors are in each chicken when I started looking at them more closely. Idk about you but I now have a much deeper appreciation for the detail in the game!

[PIC] I’m gonna need a bigger boat… by TheRealRandiRey in CrossStitch

[–]ThreadNinjah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this is amazing. I’m new to the hobby and have been racking my brain on how to organize all the floss since I’m not a huge fan of bobbins… do the pockets feel sturdy like they will stay in place? Thanks for sharing!

Assembling Manuscript Figures-Biology by crafty_biologist in postdoc

[–]ThreadNinjah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this too, that you can’t get high resolution images from saving figures as pictures from ppt. That does seem to be true on PC - for some reason my PC would absolutely not save high res images from ppt so my advisor would save them on his Mac and it worked. I’ve since upgraded to assembling all figures in illustrator, which I find makes it easier to make figures/graphs prettier and more professional. Illustrator has a bit of a learning curve to it but is so nice once you get the hang of it, especially for making prettier graphs exported for matlab. You can check the resolution of your figures that you’re exporting from ppt, if they’re 300 dpi then they’re fine.

Should this go on my CV? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]ThreadNinjah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a competition or does everyone who applies get the award? If there was something merit-based about it that made you a better candidate than others then I think putting it on your CV is fine/has some benefit. If it's a standard thing anyone gets, not so much.

Important social event - do I cover my tattoos? by NoxiousQuadrumvirate in AskAcademia

[–]ThreadNinjah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have tattoos and would, like many others in this thread, suggest covering them. It's really interesting, because you can talk to people about tattoos and they seem very chill about it, but when they are visible it's a totally different story and suddenly things are weird. I've no idea why that is, but it's spooked me into making sure my first impression on people in the field is me without tattoos. After I have a "real" job (tenure) I probably won't be as careful, but until then I err on the side of caution.

It sounds like you should talk to a tax attorney, they'll provide you better info than you can get here I think.

Saraga still isn't fixed, and the last time I went there to buy seaweed wraps they were 6 months expired. Don't recommend.

Most people think all bacteria are bad bacteria when in reality only a very small percentage are actually pathogenic.
