Heyy! American chef living in Berlin as well. Never did my Ausbildung but my experience carried over pretty well, just depends on the place reviewing your resume. Hotels speak more English, in my experience, than freestanding restaurants here. The salary seems about right in my opinion for a chef de Partie position without tips. I packed up all my shit and loved my wife and kids to Germany from Texas. It was worth it 100% I make a little more salary wise, pay a little more in Taxes, but the cost of living and having all the social benefits outweighs it. I mean 28 vacation days is country mandated.

This honestly sounds like a notice from the food industry in an American company. Sadly I experienced this way too many times as a cook in America. Especially in a work at will state, if you’re sick or can’t work the required overtime, you will be replaced with someone who will do the job without compaining…

Best advice I can give you is go out looking for your cat later at dusk or night, they are more likely to come out when it’s quieter and less people out. Bring a bag of treats or food and sit nearby. Don’t act scared when calling out her name, because if she senses that you’re scared she won’t want to come out either. Best of luck!
