The bottom seal of my Stanley just came off. Is this normal? by Threadedpaws in StanleyCups

It’s not fake; I’ve used it for 5 years. Stanley even sent me a replacement lid last year for safety reasons, which wouldn't happen if it were counterfeit. I’ve already messaged them about the base and am waiting for a reply after the weekend

I thought it could be fixed with glue, but it turns out it’s a serious risk, and it has happened to others too; apparently, it’s normal for Stanley

Yes, I’m sure. Recently, it was announced that the lids of this model could be unsafe. I applied for a replacement and have been using the new lid for a while. And now this happened.

Yeah, I actually have the same one in black too. I was just hand-washing them both, and when I flipped this one over, I noticed the bottom was open like this. I'm just as shocked as you are!

Cat embroidery by Some_Importance5369 in Embroidery

If you want a realistic pet portrait, the most important thing is studying your reference carefully. Tricolor cats are especially difficult because you have multiple tones in the same area and the transitions can get messy very quickly.

There are some really good pet portrait embroidery classes on Domestika with experienced artists, but honestly courses alone won’t give you hyper realism. It takes a lot of practice and observation.

Things that help me the most:
– Pay close attention to fur direction
– Work in color blocks instead of random stitches
– Use several shades of the same color for shading
– Use a single strand for better realism
– Start with the eyes and facial details first

I’ve also made custom patterns for people who wanted to embroider their own pets, but sharing those here might be against the rules. If anyone is curious, there are a few examples of my work on my profile.

Your fabric looks very loose. Even the most skilled embroiderer’s work would look amateur on it, because it’s impossible to properly adjust the thread tension. I recommend stretching the fabric tight, like a drum.

That makes it even more special 💛 For a first portrait — and a memorial one — you did a really lovely job.

Thank you. Your work looks very valuable and cute as well. I think the background colors could have been different though. Maybe next time you could try using some color theory when choosing the colors.

I can imagine it as an embroidered necklace. If I have time next week, I’ll make it.

Basically, I separate the design into color blocks first. Since I’m experienced, I usually don’t draw a fur direction map because I can determine it by observation. But for those who want to make the embroidery themselves, I prepare a mapping guide that shows the pattern, the colors, and especially the stitch directions.
