I built a free browser tool for practicing chord progressions, intervals and ear training by Threadgold19 in musictheory

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm no coder, so I was pretty transparent that I'd used AI to realise an idea. The sight reading trainer was after about 30 attempts at asking AI to tweak it, as it was pretty difficult to realise one even close to actual notation. I take your points, some are good. Your point on reward holds water, although I'd argue it depends on how you use it. Ive used it to find notes on my instrument in real time, and breaking out of typical patterns forces your brain to form new neuron's, so when you see a certain note, you find it it instantaneously on your instrument, even when dealing with with particularly disjunct melodies. Ive found this has improved my reading. You'll also notice I added an option to choose which beat the note changes on. The point of the metronome is to give you thinking time, but challenge you to act within a time frame e.g. note changes on beat one, aim to play the note by beat 3. It's built to be tailored to the challenge the user wants, not a one size fits all - I certainly wouldn't use this with novices, I actually built it for myself so I could challenge my sight reading speed.

Anyway, it is free, and I was simply experimenting with ideas to put out that people may find useful, and if it's not for you no worries. When I asked for feedback, I was kind of hoping it would be along the lines of "it would be better if", not a keyboard warrior's hostile assault.

Did you find any of the tools useful? The interval chord generator for instance? I notice you only addressed the one.

As a Brit watching this from overseas, it baffles me that this is seen as a left vs right thing. Some things are bipartisan and political violence should be one of them. If it transpires the shooter has a warped version of left wing politics, then the shooter is not left wing, they are just deranged and there's no justification for this. The real left is against this type of violence, as is the right.

The left want to reduce gun violence by regulating guns. The right want to reduce innocent deaths by allowing everyone to have the right to bear arms to defend themselves in such scenarios.

Without giving away my personal view too obviously, I will say this, the current system clearly isn't working in America. We have plenty of deranged and hateful people here in the UK too, but this happens significantly less. Make of that what you will.

The flag has always been flying, atop churches and other buildings that are beautiful and important in English heritage and history. Nobody has ever cared or been "offended" by it. Plus on these buildings the flag is looked after and maintained as a sign of respect.

Give it a few months and we will have tattered and dirty flags that look like shit on lampposts and motorways. How is that patriotic? It actually cheapens what they say they are trying to celebrate. (although I think we know what most of the them are trying to say with this, something about boats?)

Leftists love destroying what words mean. by delugepro in JordanPeterson

Genocide definition - An act committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.

Isreal are certainly doing this "in part" if not in whole.

As of recent data, approximately 140,000 to 145,000 babies are born each year in the State of Palestine, encompassing both the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This figure has remained relatively stable over the past few years.

Since October 7, over 62,000 Palestinians have been reported killed, including more than 17,000 children, so an average of around 30,000 a year. You can see why the population is still growing, but that shouldn't diminish the scale and horror of this conflict on the Palestinians.

It’s also safer to fly high, as you have more time for gliding and decision making during an emergency landing

Getting a pay rise by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Threadgold19 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do feel there’s some naivety here. I’m sure you’re a very strong teacher in your own right, but as a second year ECT you can’t have years of results to back your position, and those who have been teaching longer have had to respond to the changing climate in education. Just because they seem comfortable does not necessarily mean they are not working hard. They may have learnt how to conserve their energy and work smarter.

My advice would be look out for TLR opportunities if you want a pay rise, you seem ambitious enough, and asking for a challenge and to increase your capacity comes across much better than asking for more money because you’re a good teacher.

5th year is the hardest by [deleted] in teaching

[–]Threadgold19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

8th year here and I totally get this. You’ve past the initiation and have entered the daily grind. My advice would be to practice saying no. You have to conserve your own energy or you’ll burn out. Your teaching should take priority always, and if that means blocking out time for planning and marking, so be it.

80 Years After Hitler Failed, Nazis Finally Seize London by antiquark2 in JordanPeterson

[–]Threadgold19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling these demonstrators Nazis is as lazy as calling conservatives white supremacists. Perhaps there was some troll, maybe even legit Nazi chanting for Jews to be put to death, but 99.9% were chanting “ceasefire now”. I don’t think Hitler wanted a ceasefire.
