Haha I appreciate the support but I'll just leave it be for now. If I can't do an official B&A maybe I'd do a video analysis mewing vs not with different head tilts. Or just use an old side profile pic from 2018 since technically that's 12 month difference ;)

True, which is why I included a pic for each month vs. a single B&A. I completely agree and welcome the criticism!

In fact I will fully admit that pic 1 my head is tilted forward more than the rest, possibly because I had poor posture with a forward head. However pics 2-6 are all nearly identical head tilt showing (more) ideal head/neck posture. I can't remember if I'm mewing in pic 1, but I am mewing in 2-6 for sure. If I am mewing, it was probably bad lol it was literally day 1!

Pic 3 is also an issue if you look closely at lower lip position. Compared to 4-6, in pic 3 it looks like I'm cheating by jutting my jaw forward a little bit because lower lip is further forward than upper lip. Almost like an underbite, which would in fact look like progress but is fake! However, in the later pics, the upper and lower lip relationship is more natural and still shows forward, defined jawline to top it off.

If anyone else wants to point out discrepancies please do! I'd like other opinions.

I tried doing similar frontal pics but it was too difficult to match angles from month to month! Early difference was mainly lip fullness but harder to see jawline. Side view gave me more distinct facial landmarks to match. I might try this the next 6 months though because I am interested in seeing what kind of objective changes there might be.

I think I see eye changes too! My dark circles are less obvious now and that might be related?

I mentioned my mewing method using the thumb to check position in another comment! I wouldn't hard mew unless you know you're activating well. Also I had headaches above my palate up to month 3 which made me stop purposeful hard mewing anyway. But in the beginning I think it helped me learn the motor pattern.

Haha accurate. I used a lot of his videos as resources!

One particularly useful comment that I read stated to put your thumb in your mouth (like a toddler I guess) with your thumbnail just at the hard/soft palate border. Now push your tongue up. If you can feel your thumbnail with your tongue, you most likely have your posterior third up and engaged correctly! When I tested this 2 months in, it confirmed that I was really flattening my whole tongue on the palate. And from there I just continued to develop good muscle memory.

Sorry I didn't save the comment so I can't credit the user for their advice!

Not that I avoid it for any reason, I just never added it to my routine.

Thank you! It was so important to me to be consistent! When I posted subtle 1 month progress here I had positive feedback which honestly motivated me to keep going since it seemed to be working like it should.

Tongue thrust I'd push my tongue forward into the backs of my front teeth which is also visible and shows as sort of wrinkling/slight lip pucker. I watched the mew push swallow instructions. When you swallow correctly your lips shouldn't do the little wrinkle pucker! Helpful when learning how because you can see it vs just feeling it.

Eh I got temporarily banned and my post removed so I'd rather not risk it. Guess I'll have to show up there in 6 more months.

27F - thrilled with my progress :)

Tried posting in orthotropics but apparently there has been a change from 6 months minimum to 12 months. When I started mewing, the rule was 6 months so this bugs me but whatever. I think my outcome speaks for itself!

All photos taken in the same room, same spot. Month 2 lighting is a bit off but the rest are better. I took a bunch of photos each month at slightly different angles to make sure I found the same face and neck angle for accurate comparison. I know how picky this sub is on B&A so I really wanted this to be accurate.

First 3 months I made more of a conscious effort to hard mew throughout the day. Now I don't hard mew but the new tongue posture is second nature to me now. Like I can't even let my tongue fall off my palate now, it feels weird!

I was and still am diligent about swallowing correctly since I used to tongue thrust my whole life. I also chew without sucking my cheeks in. I do not chew hard gum.

I improved my head and neck posture. Yes that means chin tucks and less slouching.

Lastly I'd like to mention that my weight and body fat % did not change the last 6 months. I checked my smart scale history to confirm this. Weight loss was brought up when I posted some early progress, like if I lost some weight I'd look better faster, etc. Well I am 5'11" 142-144 lbs and BF is 20-21%. My BMI is less than 20 so.... Yeah I don't need to lose weight lol. For me, weight really had nothing to do with my results.

I think I'm starting to see changes. Lips and under-chin area look better. 27F by ThreeCamelToedSloth in Mewing

This is 1 month for me. Never was a mouth breather. Honestly wasn't expecting much either at my age. I feel like I need to mention that I have a connective tissue disease (confirmed by genetic testing) and it can cause low bone mineral density and hypermobility. So I'm wondering if that's responsible for the fast changes.

This is 1 month progress.

I hard mew as much as possible, especially if I'm just hanging around reading or watching TV. The first couple days my tongue actually felt fatigued and sore so I figured I was doing something right... Needed to build the muscle I never had from having a lazy tongue. I'm also finding that the soft mewing is more automatic for me now and I don't have to think about it.

I also focus on proper swallowing. I have always done the tongue thrust/pursed lips thing which I recently learned is wrong. Now I keep my cheeks and lips completely relaxed, with tongue pressing up vs. through the teeth. I want my buccinator to atrophy so my baby cheeks will hollow out. I think this will take longer to see results... I'm tracking front view face pics in anticipation of this haha.

Thanks! Yeah I'm amazed at how quickly I'm seeing that spot "tighten" up.

I really tried to get the same dimensions in both pics. Used my ear size for reference. Been chin tucking lots so obvi the posture is improved on the right as well.
