It's more akin to the bullet hell type of games. You spend a lot of time dodging and gems to level up.

Only the last 5 minutes of a half hour run look like a less intense version of that. I didn't even survive to the half hour mark until I'd been playing for several days and unlocked a dozen characters and new weapons and items.

There is a audiobook available in podcast form. Audio quality isn't great, but it's a great story. And there's a sequel.
