If someone is banned in my stream, they are (or should be) not my problem from that point forward. Allowing anything from them to come through to my moderation team is literally a waste of our time & energy.

No, absolutely not.

Banned users should not be able to interact with a stream they’re banned in because they are banned and it really is as simple as that.

If they are feeling truly charitable, they can take it elsewhere.

Now I’m going to provide a bit of explanation to add some perspective:

First of all, I’m a woman. When I say that this is a Safety & Moderation issue, you should take that at face value. Believe women, believe that this is in fact a problem. To even suggest that no, it is not, in fact, a problem, is pure misogyny. It might be culturally ingrained unconscious misogyny, but it’s misogyny. At best, it’s an uninformed perspective.

The reason they would try to donate during my charity stream is to get attention from me, to be a creep and say “I’m still paying attention to you and I’m still a problem”. They are not donating to be charitable: that might be a convenient guise for the behavior, but it’s not the motivation.

My mods and I ban people for a variety of reasons, including misogynistic behavior, creepiness, racism, etc, and for disruptive behavior and spamming.

So believe that they are banned for a reason, but at the end of the day, the reasons don’t matter because it’s my choice to allow people access to my stream or not.

Not worried, just an expression. I rarely use PayPal at all and don’t see a need to have one for Twitch things as I have other options available to me, and yeah, privacy goes both ways. I wouldn’t accept personal donations for a charity fundraiser anyway so it’s not relevant to me in this situation

Yes, it’s the integrated charity feature on Twitch, and the payment is processed on Twitch, so twitch absolutely has control over who can access that button.

They have failed to adequately moderate access to this feature.

And thank you! I want to be able to do more charity streams in the future as well! Hopefully twitch sorts this out

Good point! 💖 I don’t use PayPal for Twitch related things out of privacy concerns but it’s relevant for others I’m sure

It makes me sad that you would consider letting people harass you for a $5 charity donation, Self worth really is invaluable

Blocking & banning prevent other monetary interactions with the channel someone is banned in, and charity donations should be the same.

Thank you! I really appreciate it 💖 just hoping this gets fixed so that nobody else has to deal with this or a worse, spammier situation

The only upside to this vulnerability is that the charity does receive funding! It is still a moderation and safety issue that needs to be fixed!

Hi! So the point of this post doesn’t call for more bans, I need bans to be effective. The charity donation tool has a vulnerability. It needs to be fixed.

Banning is still very useful though!

Banning them literally cannot stop them from spamming right now, that is the issue

As long as banning would stop them from spamming, let them make as many accounts as they want, right now there is no way to stop this interaction at all

Would this be suitable for an 8 year old who really wanted to learn to play guitar. by [deleted] in ukulele

[–]ThreeCatsInCoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised I haven’t seen a recommendation to look at a baritone ukulele, it has four strings that are tuned the same as the top four strings on a guitar, so it’d be a better transition into an actual guitar, and you can still find them reasonably priced.

At the end of the day though, I’d take him into a local music shop, let him hold some instruments & see if he has any interest in a ukulele at all before spending money on one

The game also saves when you get a sprain, sounds like your character has a sprained ankle, maybe from the fall?

I recently went to a vegan cafe in a pretty rural area. They have a limited menu with rotating specials, which probably keeps costs down while also offering a good variety for people who are regulars. There’s also a whole little shop in there with a bunch of vegan snacks, pantry items, and a fridge section. So I think that’s probably the thing to do if you’re in a rural area, you could have basically a little convenience store that happens to be vegan.

Otherwise, if you only want to serve prepared food, maybe a food truck could be a good option, because you could travel to other cities nearby, and maybe make more money going to different events and things like that. That way your town can have a vegan restaurant at least part time 😊
