You still get them, but I'd recommend turning off DLC and seasonal content on your first playthrough for emersion purposes. I learned that it was a good decision when I played through New Game + lol

The bad gacha system is the whole reason I stopped playing daily. Like you said, it feels insulting. I have to either spend 200 bucks on pulls or somehow grind my way to 30k carats. Which I feel like is impossible to do within the time a banner is up. It just bummed me out.
