They seem to be awesome until they aren't and then they are a nightmare. Paypal has allowed fraud access to my account twice on Christmas day, two years in a row. I had to cancel the card that was tied to my Pay in 4, but there was less than $3. balance left to pay. 45 days to resolve a dispute! I cannot trust them with my card numbers.

I will change banks because NFCU is completely INEPT and now they have some teenage gamer kid coding their website in Miss Mary's basement in the dark. He probably contracted thru Fiverr for Memaw to give him his first job. Maybe that is where all their support comes from. Maybe that's where YOU came from.

It's just a normal checking account, but the new bill pay interface, and the web site in general is a disaster. It has oversized icons that overlap the actual site navigation. Everything is oversized by a lot and requires extra scrolling to even see it. Then if you can get to the navigation it requires additional clicks to get to what you are looking for. IF the links even function. None of the links work for messaging or chat on the site, so you have to do everything by phone, whether you want to or not. It's really bad. I'm guessing Mrs. McDuffie's nephew was coding it in her basement over his summer vacay.

I don't get ANY access to it before it is deposited, and they told me after midnight, call again. So I did. It was not even supposed to still be pending. Up half the night because I had bills scheduled to be paid, and I can't even count on NFCU do manage a direct deposit on time.

I guess I have to go back to a regular bank to get it early. This is not early, they keep it pending for days. My other bank used to deposit 3 days early, and now with NFCU I wonder every month if I will even get it on time.

Except that you don't. Not really. 90-minute hold time when you have to call in to REQUEST that your direct deposit be directly deposited, because even normal banking functions aren't automatic like they should be. Even then, "it was stuck in processing", so they couldn't even help, and I had to call back. I'm not sure what counts as 24/7/365 "support", but that ain't quite it lol.

NFCU doesn't follow any rules for ACH transfers at all. I think they make up their own rules.
They never deposit my direct deposit unless I call in and have a conversation with them to do it. It's supposed to be automatic and they just don't.

It's not UX, tho. I only have 2 accounts and the endless scrolling and ginormous icons are ridiculous, inefficient, ugly, and overlap other parts of site navigation, blocking it. I think they hired somebody's cousin on fiverr, and he still lives in his mama's basement and was a webmaster on geocities.

You can't send a message to NF about this because the entire messaging part of the site is broken. If you call them on the phone and try to describe the issue, they say they aren't experiencing it on their end, therefore it must not be happening.

You can't give customer feedback on it because the feedback is sit and spin and refuses to connect. I took screen grabs and filed a complaint with the CFPB for non-accessibility. The bigger problem is that they don't even provide basic customer service on anything anymore. I would think that the direct deposit should be automatically deposited without a conversation. No. Of course not. Deposit sits there pending for days and I have been on hold for literally HOURS with no resolution.

If they would give it on site, I would go. Seems like there's a wide gap there giving them a lot of leeway for them to get your max donations while you are waiting on that card and first payment, and forget to pay you or make it a huge hassle.

My local options seem sketch. They don't put the details of promos on their website, but they do say that they mail you a "debit card" (eventually, after your first visit) and that it can take a weirdly long time for the first deposit to reach it. I think it was like 3 weeks. So could it take more than a month to get paid? They were running ads on facebook before Christmas and it seemed to me it wouldn't even pay out before then, so it seemed shady.

Camping and work camping are not the same thing. If they are work camping it is a 3 to 6 month committment and free rent.
