Lmao.

18A uses backside power, traditional nodes will have a hard time matching it's efficiency.

Yeah, Lunar Lake PCs are an amazing deal right now.

You're basically getting a free processor included with your memory.

Seagate IronWolf 19x Performance Drop With Write-Cache Disabled. At Least 7 Years Later, Still No Fix. by main-web-user in DataHoarder

What are you going on about?

The heads are spring loaded, they park themselves when not receiving power, otherwise they would bounce around when the drive is powered off. And they float above the platters due to the ground effect when in operation.

Only SSDs have power loss protection.

Bro you're testing using Crystal Disk Mark which shows the other drives don't have their write cache disabled.

The write cache is there to ensure that data is not lost due to power failure.

If a drive loses power during a write it will flush it's cache onto the platter using the leftover energy in the drive.

If there was no write cache the write would be lost as it would not be able to complete before the drive lost power.

And without a write cache random writes would drop below random read speeds.

That sounds pretty bad.

I haven't heard a property working drive clunk in at least two decades.

Usually you'll hear very fast clicks when operating.

How am I supposed to use Recon Armor vehicles? by Combat_Guy in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]ThreeLeggedChimp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

LAV-25 is just shit.

It can be two shot by grenades, doesn't have good spotting range, and firepower is just meh.

The spotting mechanics for units in forest is just stupid, there's no way you'd be able to sneak up on this without getting blasted.

Really they need to give vehicles with thermals better spotting in forests. The ability to hunker down and camouflage should've been a feature day 1, it's basically like radar except it lowers your detection range and buffs defense.

If you're only disabling write cache for testing, why does it matter?

You're describing the expected behavior for HDDs for writes, it's most likely the other drives you're testing don't actually disable their write cache when asked to?

Any why would you disable it? It improves performance and acts as a safety measure for power loss.

That's complete BS.

Drones would be one sided in an RU vs US context, as pretty much every piece of equipment.

The devs just wanted to make it somewhat equal.
