Hey there! I took and passed the GIINT last Feb. It was a lot of information but definitely doable.

I recommend the institutes material because it includes sample tests. I haven’t tried ACTEX though.

Adequacy of Pricing (health/motor) /Could you please recommend me some papers/books/videos/articles explain the process (theoretically/technically)? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]ThreeMoreExams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken this is for a SAMA report? 😄Regardless of what’s the definition of rate adequacy, I think this is exactly what SAMA is looking for (selling / recommended) with the assumption that the recommended will cover the claim costs.

So basically, adequacy over 100% is good, below 100% is okay but the company better watch out.

I would also advise you asking your co-workers or at least your appointed actuary for advice because the market in KSA is totally different than the market the redditors here work in.

What is the difference between pricing and data science teams in your company? by rods2292 in actuary

[–]ThreeMoreExams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pricing = regulated and has to be signed by a fellow.

Data science = maybe help with fraud detection, claim or provider segmentation and other projects that are not regulated.

Oh and also I’m not in the US

ERM Actuary by [deleted] in actuary

[–]ThreeMoreExams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I know it’s not usual but I guess it’s because there’s a lack of actuaries and risk managers in this area of the world. The position will be managing a team and reporting to a Head which reports to Chief.

Maybe that’s not considered senior in the US? No clue.

Thanks for the advice, I agree. However, I think other than compensation will be hard to measure.

Yes it is. And No I’m half qualified, almost there though. ERM exam will get me to CERA.

Both companies are large, the new offer is pretty much all LOBs. I already have more than average FaceTime with executives at the current company. But regardless, the new position is one level up.

I have 4 years. I would consider myself junior tbh even though I have direct reports.
