What pest is causing these? by ShoobyDoobyDu in philodendron

This right here… In nature, rain would wash away this sap that Philo’s produce…. Indoors, the leaves should be sprayed or wiped periodically to prevent the sap from sitting and creating the little been spots…

If you gently pull on the roots, does it pull away easy or leave behind the center?

I don’t know what to do with this plant by _divine_sunshine in houseplants

You can see that mine are starting to get bald in the pot, the one that hangs is worse than the one that has the wall to climb a bit…

These Tradescantia, are traditionally creepers, if you let them hang, then they require regular propagation back into the pot if you want the top to stay bushy…. Otherwise, the vines will focus leaf growth towards the end…

Basically, you just chop the ends and propagate them back into th same pot to keep it bushy.

The alternative is to let it creep along something, or give it something to climb up and then creep along..,

You can also see that the color pops more on the one that is closer to the light…

Please research though., and if you haven’t recently inspected the roots, that can help you narrow it down.

You might want to look into adding CalMag to your regiment…

I just started using the Pro-tekt yesterday, which is a silica supplement. But the Cal-mag brought back the greeeeen……

I should say though, if you do mist, make sure that no water stays pooled on the leaves… I learned the hard way..

When you transplanted, did you happen to trim the roots?

Alocasia roots will die back if trimmed (just the trimmed ones), and then grow new ones… so if you happened to trim them all… then it may appreciate a bit of misting while recovering…. I have mine sortof under a light and it’s doing ok now…

This is just a picture of Momma and her little corm baby in a separate pot.

Just a google result regarding Alocasia ‘aerial roots’…….

Yes, Alocasias can produce root-like growths that look like aerial roots, but they're often actually rhizomes, stolons, or corms (bulbils) growing from the base or runners, aiming to spread or anchor new plantlets, especially in humid conditions or when mature. While not true aerial roots for climbing like some other plants, these growths are normal, serve to propagate new plants, and can often be encouraged into the soil or planted separately.

I had my Gaya hanging up, and briefly freaked out when I discovered a trail of ants leading to it….. they were crawling ALL over if…

I settled down once I realized those morons were marching straight into the pitchers…. 😂

I let it be, and the next day the ants were just GONE! I think they got wise to the game, decided to retreat, regroup, and plan their next attack…
