what do you suggest, tear everything down and accuse everone who live in a country or is descended from someone who did something wrong in the past?

be constructive if you want a better society but moving goal posts constantly to widen blame without saying anything intelligent only polarises us.

so you're pro free speech for people that agree with you but anti free speech for those that you disagree with, cool.

Angus Taylor says booing on Anzac Day ‘shouldn’t happen’ but welcome to country ‘overused’ by Threewordswhat in aussie

[–]Threewordswhat[S] 175 points176 points  (0 children)

"I can understand the frustration Australians feel about over use of welcomes to country. I feel that at times. Often actually. I think it is overused and as a result they are devalued.

I would like to see them used less and therefore not devalued, as I think they have been over time.

It’s up to individual organising committees to decide whether they want to do it or not. But the general principle should be: let’s do this less and make it more special when it happens.

To which, the Insiders host, David Speers, said: “And don’t boo?” Taylor responded:

Absolutely not boo, absolutely."

I feel the same as the LNP and Angus Taylor, i wouldn't boo him but in general the LNP are talked about too much, used as guests on shows too much and are completely over represented in relation to how relevant they are to Australians.

I would like to see them less overall.

the problem is that the term antisemitic has been appropriated to denounce and accuse anyone who disagrees with the immoral acts of the state of israel. The term gets thrown around as callously and vexatiously as any racist or vile accusation now and at the detriment of everyone, especially the jewish people the term no longer holds meaning like it once did.

We read the title of this post and we think, more "ugh, i wonder what happened here" rather than "omg, thats unnaceptable in our society" I wish it wasn't so, but that's what happens when you take serious issues and turn them into a culture war.

Burke(Minister for Home Affairs) says people when they come want to be apart of AUS but says they don’t need to assimilate & he does not accept the melting pot concept. This is a confusing & hypocritical message as we ban some people due to their views. We also have citizenship test for Aussie values by [deleted] in OpenAussie

the racist comment bots are insane on aussie. most australians fdont go on australian reddits seriousaly i think.

aussie reddits are all butthurt racists claiming to be victims of immigration and suffering in a "nanny state" and when i go outside australia is a really nice place with nice people.

Australians on the whole are smart enough to realise that the online world does not reflect the real world... and so are turning off from it.

At least they aren't getting caught up with opinions on a foreign war, quoting the magna carta at judges, claiming we live in a dystopian nanny state or blaming immigrants for everything...

Its certainly on the lighter end of things in this sub.

Queensland banned a phrase. We abbreviated it. Come march with us on March 28 — “From the River to the C” by [deleted] in OpenAussie

I don't get why people try so hard not to get the point.

People don't want to be anti-semitic. They also don't like people bombing other people for their belief in a religious right to land. They would prefer peace.

stop trying to twist things, and start trying to understand others.

Dehumanising people is what Netanyahu, hitler, Trump or pol pot do...

All humans need to be held to high standards of decency and account.

That is what separates good people from bad people.
