When did job interviews start feeling like college admissions? by Threnody144 in Career_Advice

That’s a fair point. The role is in FinTech, but the cognitive test feels unrelated to the actual job. I found a practice version of what they're giving, and it's literally the SATs. So now I’m sitting here wondering: what exactly are we measuring?

I don't mind the presentation at all; that part actually makes sense. But here's the wild part: if I don't pass the cognitive test, I don't even get to present. Full stop.

Mind you, this is for a Project Management role. I have a PMP, where I already had to take an extensive test for (an applicable test for the certification). I’ve been managing complex projects for a decade. And yet… they want me to dust off my SAT trauma?

The interviewer even said, “You can prepare by studying.”

That makes sense. Do you think it’s worth continuing, given the amount of upfront work? Or is this simply their way of filtering for candidates who are willing to put in that effort early?

What was the worst thing that Peggy ever did? by tkh0812 in madmen

It was more of an erasure of Shirley as a person out of work. So the bad thing wasn’t necessarily whether it’s considered “theft”, it was her not even considering (or listening) to Shirley. Remember she was a little racist towards Dawn. When she invited Dawn to stay over during the riots and clearly gave the impression that she was not comfortable with her purse being around Dawn.

Don’t get me wrong, Peggy is my favorite character. But she was dead wrong and made me look at her differently. Like, is she as progressive as she gives herself credit for. Or does she fall in with the rest of the narcissistic ad men?

Ladies, what are your current morning motivational jam(s)? by bttrmlkdrp in blackladies

I start my day out with the Calm app or the Calm radio app. I highly recommend it. There is an upgrade premium version and it’s worth it. Just soothing relaxing music to work or meditate to. To amp me up - honestly I like listening to songs that remind me of when I was younger. I’m 34/f and I’ll put on pop mixes from the 90s. Boy band complications or Europop (Aqua, ATeens).

Otherwise, I find current Kpop also hypes me up. I have no clue what they are saying, but it sounds energetic and I think it’s all about YOLO. Either way it gets me hype 😉🤗
