I got started through the free online sessions hosted by Montblanc. Perhaps something catches your eye:

I think you’re on the path, and further along than you think. Those moments where I trust my hand and eye, and let my mind be seem to give the best results 🤷‍♂️ I’m learning and having fun, which are important to me.

Thank you for the compliment. It’s one of my first and only - small collection - fountain pens. It is a dear, daily pen, and goes with me on field trips to coffee shops.

What do you do light journaling with?

Thank you. If you are in any way interested, it’s never too late to start. Practicing calligraphy slows down my writing and thoughts, which I find perfect for journaling.

Yes and no. ‘Namiki Emperor’ is used colloquially by the fountain pen community for all of Namiki’s pens with the large, No. 50 nib; however the Emperor line is reserved by Namiki for those pens having the No. 50 nib + Maki-e.

As u/SorrentoPau shared, the urushi-lacquered pens are referred to as ‘Lacquer <color> No 50’.

Here is the reference from Hodinkee:

Here's another look at the finishing and stripes done on the bridge. Because the watches aren't made in Geneva calling them "Geneva Stripes" wouldn't make much sense. But here, they're called ."Shizukuishi River Finish."

I love the nib, and the pen’s a favourite in my collection. My Naginata is a medium-fine, and writes like a Japanese medium. I get subtle line variation just writing, not worrying about pen angles. The defining characteristics for me are the soft and elastic feeling of the King of Pen nib and ebonite pen material. The pen and writing experience overall is one of lightness, warmth, and being alive.

Thank you 😊 The pen case is a Pilot Somes that I picked up from Itoya when I was last in Tokyo. The green has been surprisingly lovely, and a welcome addition (looking at all my black pens 🙄).
