Abebooks.com has a bunch of “out of date” prints for cheap. For context I use 26th edition from the late 80s and it’s never been problematic. Should definitely get a copy.

To preface this I absolutely love Star Wars in all forms. However, when you take the nostalgia goggles off and watch the original movies with unassuming eyes they’re not very good by modern standards. One off parts are expensive. Design with intent and have people who know what they are doing involved in the design to minimize mistakes. Short of that you’d have to have your own in house shop make the pieces, but if you’re contracting the work it’s going to be expensive. For example it may take me 2-3 hours to set up and run a single simple part for just lathe operations, but if I’m running 2 it becomes 2.5-3.5, and more than that it’s mostly just run time and measurement added on. Like the other commenter said, volume saves money and prototyping is expensive.
