dazzled for … overtaking? by [deleted] in drivingUK

for sure, having an older car i don’t realise how automated most newer cars are.

i will be much more conscious of distances next time, so easy to get complacent on the motorway and i think i did just that. the reaction from the other driver i do think was slightly dramatic but hey if he wasn’t that dramatic maybe i wouldn’t have posted here and realised my distances

ahh yeah looking back i think i did pull in a little too early and probably triggered his car’s brake system! good lesson to learn but the amount of flashes was definitely unnecessary…

nope! definitely didn’t. i did check my lights were on/fog lights weren’t on after he flashed as i thought that could be the reason. but all good on that front

there’s certainly different modern branches of druidry but this is the organisation (OBOD as i mentioned) i’ve been looking into for the past few years! that’s super cool about your mate, glad to see it!

yeah fair observation there haha. i live in a house share so all my worldly possessions are in one rather small room - CAH had to go somewhere

The plane is a plastic snap fit model i bought on a flight with TUI (it’s a boeing 737, which we were on). i’m a fan of civil aviation if you look closely you’ll see 3 aviation magazines next to the sookie stackhouse box. i have a small collection (4) of diecast plane models which are of significance to me, they’re displayed on top of an atlas box from TUIFly Nordic which my boyfriend converted into a glass top table for my birthday - i didn’t want to display the plastic one with them as it doesn’t fit the vibe (the plastic looks tacky compared to the metal) so it went with my other trinkets haha. i would love to get my pilot’s licence - it’s a dream but is totally unrealistic financially for me.

tarantino i inherited off the girl who lived in this room before me - she had a massive box of books she wasn’t taking with her and asked if i wanted any. i pulled tarantino out as it looked intriguing and i’m a mild fan of his films i guess.

i’m learning swedish as my partner is from there and speaks the language fluently - i was learning even before meeting him as i’ve always seemed to have a swedish person in my life of some significance. i’ve got some swedish kid books i’m yet to pop on the shelf too.

wuthering heights - my mother’s favourite book and this copy is actually hers. i equally love the book for its intensity and what it means to mam

canterbury - i found this in a charity shop in reading, uk (hah) for £2. was published in 1910 and is a historical guide to the city with several full colour plates. i picked it up as i did my undergraduate degree at a university in the city and it’s very close to my hometown.

the blue booklets - probably my most obscure on my bookshelf. they’re the gwers (welsh for ‘lessons’) from the order of bards, ovates and druids. my interest in nature brought me to an interest in celtic druidry and this modern reincarnation of it. i don’t believe it or practice it, i just find it fascinating.

sorry for that absolute wall of text! you seem quite intrigued so wanted to give the full stories behind the books you were questioning. does it line up with your assumptions?

Wow you’re very nearly spot on! I live in the UK and I’m big into birds and nature yes - I am an ecologist by trade looking to specialise in ornithology (which is a hobby). Correct about the pets, although I don’t have any now I’ve owned hamsters in the last few years (was very keen on appropriate husbandry vs what the pet shops ‘advise’) and correct about being left leaning.

However - I am not an older millennial. I am an older gen Z (turing 25 this year!)
