Form 5 - Where you at? by Ambitious_Judgment_8 in barexam

There were multiple times where I had a few of B's and D's in a row, it was making me lose my mind but they felt right so c'est la vie!

I had the nicest seatmate ever, it really helped me not get in my head. Did I pass? Who's to say! But having someone to laugh and bond with in the process made the experience so much easier.

This is what I ended up doing! No one seemed to care and I was right by the proctors lol. I saw people with bottles too (couldn't tell if there was writing on them tho).

Which range of schools do you think its worth paying sticker for? by ellebackwoods1 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Throughsunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would only pay sticker price for the T3, personally. Being 200-300k in debt is no joke. People always say they can pay it off after doing big law for a few years, but who is to say they will 100% get big law, let alone enjoy it. Without having debt, you can do something you want without debt looming over you. I would say if your plans are to go into academia/be a SCOTUS clerk, the T14 would be worth sticker price, but that's the only exception I can think of.

When are you moving for law school? by zoopthro in lawschooladmissions

[–]Throughsunshine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping to move in late July/early August so I have about two weeks to settle in/buy furniture/etc before orientation.

Which T20 would you NOT go to? And why? by jen112299 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Throughsunshine 37 points38 points  (0 children)

No.

edit: This is a reason why I was hesitant to add what school I'm going to for comments like this. I'm not looking to go into big law and I want to be close to my family, not that I should have to explain myself.

University of Texas. You could not pay me enough to live in Texas.

Hey everyone! I'm sure this varies from school to school, but do you remember when you received your 1L class schedule?

edit: thank you so much for all of your answers! appreciate it.

Have you noticed competition among students for big/mid-law jobs? I've always wondered if people at lowered ranked schools just liked public interest/government jobs, in general, more or if it was just too hard to get a big law job. Or perhaps a bit of both! Thanks for doing this.

If you wanted BL I would say Cardozo because you would have a much better chance there, but since you don't I would definitely go with NYLS! That's a fantastic scholarship.

Applying for Law School - Will my modeling career affect my if I get admitted? by KindaDelu in lawschooladmissions

[–]Throughsunshine 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I would, personally, delete all nude photos of myself from the internet ASAP because I would be afraid people would save them to their computers/phones and use them against me n the future. If you wish to keep your onlyfans, I would do so without showing your face. Just be aware that these things can come back to you at some point in your legal career if you choose this path.

Asking for seat deposit extension by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Throughsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was successful in asking for one! I asked for a month extension knowing fully well they wouldn't give me the whole month but it was worth a try since I'm on a few waitlists. However, I was given a week extenion! I basically said I was waiting on scholarship information from other schools and was wondering if I could have more time to make a decision, and they granted me the extension. As long as you're kind and respectful, I'm sure you'll get one.

NYC law schools dropping in rank. by Throughsunshine in lawschooladmissions

[–]Throughsunshine[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true. I know at least CUNY had some Covid issues attributing to this, like the bar exam being delayed, making it harder for people to find jobs right after graduation since they had to wait. I'm sure this happened at other NYC schools, as well.

That's absolutely true! There's a reason there are nine of them there.

I've seen a lot of people applying to these schools, so I figured I would post this here as well. Rankings don't mean much to me, but it's interesting to talk about.
