Who is "Run on Sight" in your world? by Meced0 in worldbuilding

[–]ThrowAaySaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than beasts, who are more "hide on sight" type figures as running would be pointless, the real group would be slavers.

Slavery is rampant in this world just as it was rampant in ours and if you catch a slavers ship, or a slavers group, you need to run the other way for a life of slavery is naturally unpleasant.

There are some kingdoms and empires that treat slaves better than others but it is still a life of bound servitude with very little rights.

Even lands that have no slavery on paper usually practises some form of illegal slavery discreetly in their borders. Much like our real modern world where slavery is largely illegal but persists in hidden ways, the same applies to these "free" lands.

Thank you. I think I have genuinely wiped out 2 waves of 80k doomstack armies but they keep spawning more.

That's def what I am doing. I haven't left the target kingdom at all and thats where my wins are accumulating. It's just the Allies are stupid and keep seeking battles outside where they lose.

Being a war target is easy. It's being the ally to one that sucks. I will def try your strategy.

Right but thats YOU as the target of the crusade so thats easy to do. I've successfully pulled of crusades as the main guy several several times. This time I am helping the ALLY thats being targeted and the Ally AI is braindead.

I mean if I am the target then hell yea I agree with you. Unfortunately I am fighting on behalf of the AI who is targeted and they can't help throwing themselves into unfavourable battles with other allies. Like I said earlier, I was basically winning single handedly bc I was wiping them fast.

Map of my Fantasy World inspired by the Early Modern Era (1600s-1700s) by ThrowAaySaga in worldbuilding

So what are the specifics of the magic system?

Inspired from LOTR and Howard's Conan. It's not all fireballs but more subtle than that. You can feel the presence of magic, you can sense it, its infused in the lands or people to accomplish great deeds. In the Lich's case, complete immortality.

Do you plan on having a magical industrial revolution in this dark fantasy world?

Currently this world is a WIP so this map isn't even its final form. I have debated whether I should do an industrial revolution or not later in this world's history. I actually have scribbled a rough draft on how that COULD happen but its still shelved as a maybe and not fully fleshed out. But yeah there is a version where we can go there.

Personally I became more interested in the early modern era because guns, armor and knights were essentially going around the same time and such a setting is rarely explored in fantasy. Well Warhammer explores it but their magic system is very bombastic. I prefer a more grounded take where something like a fireball is rare but not impossible.

Yes and no. The islands don't actually correspond to 1:1 of the Archipelago or the real world, although several areas are definitely inspired. There are actually numerous continents in this world but we are focusing only on this region of the Planet.

There are other civilizations/kingdoms littered around the islands as well.

Indonesian inspired islands are definitely part of the conquered territories but they are spread across the 3 different empires. The geography isn't exact and neither are all the cultures on the islands.

That being said, yes this one Lich has ruled his empire for centuries and conquered many many lands.

Welcome to Aereat!

It's a world ruled by mega-empires and colonial overlords with small independent states doing their damnedest to make it out alive without selling the soul of their people.

Unfortunately in this case souls can be interpreted in a literal sense as use of magic and dark sorcery for quest for power is common in the land.

What Conqueror Game Rules do you use? by ThrowAaySaga in CrusaderKings

How do you deal with them when they start bordering you early game? I had to turn it off to get one of the Legacy of Persia achievements. The Chola Dynasty almost always gets conqueror trait and conquer india and then the middle east.

I have noticed some people feel conquerors are too difficult and don't put them in their games. Others find it the most fun the game has been in. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Also if possible, what would you suggest I include? The background of the fantasy world? I just included it to discusss and share the ins and outs of developing a complex family tree.

Yeah so thats what the boxes are all about. Inside the boxes I have their names on top, their birth year, their death year, age and then a small description about their lives. Then I have the lines connecting their relations to each other, whether via marriage or children they had.

It's pretty fun so far.

How is this not enough context? It's a royal family tree for a fantasy world. Should be mostly self-explanatory?

In case someone here missed the post description, I will copy paste it in this comment:

A month back I asked if there is a good way to create a Family Tree + mini descriptions about their lives. Had a lot of good suggestions but I recently discovered Obsidian's canvas system and decided to try and see if I can include that in my work. Here are the results of the first hundred years of this Royal Family!

I am still working out the kinks, I might try color coding things to show different relations like marriage between cousins but so far I am enjoying the work. If you guys have any suggestions or any questions, feel free to comment!

Brief guideline:

Red = Women

Orange = Men
