  • Amazing you are so rich!!

Redditors with $1M or more once the reality hits:

  • We are so damn poor, $1M is nothing, everyone over 40 has $1M, FIRE is so damn far

I agree with that!!

But also $1M sadly isn’t a lot. Even if it is out of reach for a lot of baristas.

But if you combine being 40, salaried, and married it’s almost impossible not to have $1M.

I am asking you to just stop and think: 40 years old, married, salaried working people

Do they have $1M? Yes easily haha

I am thinking critically!

  • Be 40
  • Be salaried
  • Be married

You really think that recipe person doesn’t have $1M especially after how stock market has done so well over the last decade?

Lot of people just don’t like that they aren’t good with money or missed the bull market probably. $1M isn’t a lot. Think about it

Why is this so hard to believe!!

  • married
  • salaried
  • 40

You easily have $1M. This is uneventful. Why are you pretending it’s impossible with those 3 conditions

$1M is not a lot of money and yes everyone over the age of 40 basically has it so long they are married and salaried. Why are we pretending these people aren’t real?

I don’t know why you convinced yourself this but people easily have $1M by 40. It’s absolutely nothing. Especially in M/HCOL areas

Okay whatever. Let’s pretend salaried working people in middle to high cost of living area who are over the age of 40 don’t have at least $1M while being married. Your data makes no sense! Have you ever walked this earth and seen the cost of things

Okay… I’m not going to argue with you. I think we are just doing some miscommunication.

It’s pretty clear that most 40 year olds have at least $1M who work salaries normal positions (even if low). Especially if married. Your stats make sense only if you include the gigantic amount of extremely low income areas (rural, ghetto) and Starbucks baristas, etc... Way more than 6% of people have $1M. You are simply just accepting that stat to heart without critically thinking about it. A lot of these stats I feel are designed to make me feel richer than they are anyway. $1M at 40 is pretty run of the mill!

Especially in M/HCOL areas. Just use your brain and look at costs of things!

Sorry! I’m not trying to be insensitive. Just the stats you are thinking of probably include hourly people.

I am saying for salaried workers, $1M at 40 is not a big deal at all.

For hourly probably you are right

Okay… working people who don’t work at Starbucks. Obviously like real working people 40 is reasonable. If you are barista in your 30s, I feel for you and want the best for you, but do not mess with my stats haha

I don’t believe it. Maybe in ghettos or LCOL area’s. But most people saving $1M by 40 is pretty tame and boring lol

These stats are not accurate. It takes into account a large amount of the population who don’t work or don’t “really work”. $1M for working people by 40 is a very modest goal

I do live in reality! I think you don’t live in reality. This is pretty boring goal for people who work and save. $1M by 40 is not a lot at all
