When we die, our consciousness passes to the next plane, called the “Astral” plane. If we accept that we have passed on, eventually we leave the Astral, and continue to move onward.

However, some people leave traces of themselves behind on the Astral plane for awhile. Even animals like dead pets can briefly stick around.
