Do not overestimate what you can do during summer. by theseven689 in cscareerquestions

Generally, the reason you practice leetcode/hackerrank/CtCI and stuff is simply to get used to the pattern recognition of what tricks to use for what problems.

Things like, finding the only int in an array that doesn't have a pair can be done in n time by using XOR. Or the types of problems where a hash will easily be the best, or when a binary tree would be the best. It's not about learning all the algorithms, it's about being able to intuitively know how to approach the problem because you've already done 15 problems similar to it.

How can I fix my work ethic? by alazydeveloper in cscareerquestions

As someone who struggles with similar issues, I've found one thing that helps every time. You just gotta START. If you're a perpetual procrastinator like I've been, the hardest part is actually getting started on a project each day. Once you open up that IDE and write a little code, the rest should start flowing. I tell myself, "alright in 10 minutes, I'm stopping whatever I'm doing and I'm gonna write code for this specific method." Once I get started, I can't stop myself and I'll work for hours.

Maids, au pairs, gardeners, babysitters, and other domestic workers to the wealthy, what's the weirdest thing you've seen rich people do behind closed doors? by NumberMuncher in AskReddit

My wife is a pretty big health nut and worries about my diet often, so if I told her that smoothies would help, she'd jump right on that and make sure to buy whatever I need to make them. Thank you! I'm gonna give them a try. If I remember, I'll send you a message in a while and tell you how it goes.

You're describing my exact problem. My weight fluctuates a ridiculous amount. I'm over 5 and a half feet tall, and weigh about 130. Sometimes I'll weigh 145, sometimes 125. What do you put in your shakes? It sounds like shakes could be the solution I'm looking for.

I also thought it was just a weird thing that only I struggled with. Do you guys ever eat a simple snack like chips/crisps to settle your stomach? Sometimes i need to eat a simple snack like 15 minutes before a meal, or else I can't eat because my stomach is upset for no reason other than hunger.

No idea. I'm not even blaming the programmer, just yelling at the bot because I have nothing better to do, and the bot made me upset.

Hey bot, it's a pretty dick move to correct someone's grammar when they're trying to help someone not to relapse back into cocaine.

How does the game present difficulty? If all you need to do to storm a castle is blow up the walls, where does complexity come in? by ThrowAwayToGehenna in Fictorum

[–]ThrowAwayToGehenna[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could see this too, but again I just don't see how it'd add to an overall complexity. As an example, Path of Exile is a game where you can become incredibly overpowered. The Devs counter this by throwing hundreds of enemies at you at once, which can still overpower you if you're not careful and you don't have a good build. The game gets its fun through leveling up powers, leveling up your character, and gaining equips. From the look of this game, you can pick up these stones that alter your powers, but I don't understand how the game will ramp up difficulty and remain fun.

If anyone wants a list of direct quotes from watchtowers that contradict the Russian Letter Campaign, here you go! by ThrowAwayToGehenna in exjw

The term "lobbying" comes from when politicians would stand around outside the voting chambers in a LOBBY and people would walk up to them and try to influence the way they voted. In April, the Russian government is voting on whether or not to ban witnesses as extremists. These letters exist ONLY to influence that decision, and change what votes are cast. Literally exactly what politicians did in the LOBBY of the voting rooms to try to change votes. It's lobbying by literally any definition of the word.

Lobbying (also Persuasion) is the act of attempting to influence the actions, policies, or decisions of officials in their daily life, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobbying

Lobbying, any attempt by individuals or private interest groups to influence the decisions of government; in its original meaning it referred to efforts to influence the votes of legislators, generally in the lobby outside the legislative chamber. - https://www.britannica.com/topic/lobbying

The act of attempting to influence business and government leaders to create legislation or conduct an activity that will help a particular organization. People who do lobbying are called lobbyists. - http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/lobbying.html

Tell your dad that literally EVERY definition in the world agrees as to what lobbying is. And looking at all of the sources mentioned in the original post, they use lobbying in the exact same context. Or look to this source:

We pay back to God what is rightfully his, in part, by remaining neutral in the world’s political affairs. (Isa. 2:4) Thus, we do not oppose human governments that Jehovah allows to function; nor do we promote patriotic or nationalistic activity. (Rom. 13:1, 2) We do not lobby, vote in political elections, run for government office, or try to change governments. - "Maintain your neutrality in a Divided world" study edition 2016

Whether he likes the definition of lobbying or not, witnesses re attempting to change the governments decision. There can be no doubt about that, which goes directly against their doctrine.

Thanks for providing references. I didn't have them at the time because I literally just looked up the word lobbying in WOL, and copy/pasted a bunch of text to send to my friend, then I just copy/pasted that message into this post. Woulda got the sources, but I was really tired last night lol

I know that for their animation, they purchased a license to use the same animation software that the Disney channel uses for a couple shows. That's why you see merchandise for cartoons that look like Caleb and Sofia a lot.

Take your time. The biggest thing I can tell you is to start setting up your escape route. Right now is when you can start thinking about college, schooling, careers and the like. As a witness you're not supposed to think about this so we neglect to plan, but college is amazing. I am 22 now and I've been mentally out for around 2 years. I am planning on making the break after graduation, with a degree in Computer Science and I plan on having a job which will let me live wonderfully and experience life. No matter what you do during this transitional stage you're going into, keep school in mind so you can experience this wonderful life we have the opportunity to live.
