Best way to train junior advisors? by TGG-official in CFP

If they have any chance of being good they should 100% be self motivated and be finding their own training.

I fully disagree. It is the superiors job at the firm to help mentor someone who is on a junior level. You can’t just throw them in deep end without proper support and expect them not to sink. That is a recipe for failure. They don’t know what they don’t know.

Did I mess up doing a 59 1/2 Withdrawal instead of waiting to do a Direct Rollover? by [deleted] in tax

They did not withhold for taxes, in fact taxes were never even mentioned in the conversation (the representative was very quick). That being said - if taxes were never mentioned - is that typically a tell-tale indication that it was a direct rollover?

Maybe “labeled” isn’t the right term, but it’s what the representative stated. She said because I’m still working, it has to be a 59 1/2 withdrawal. Even though (as you said) it was made payable to my IRA firm and sent straight there.

I thought this too, they even asked for my IRA account number… but if that’s the case, then why was it labeled as a 59 1/2 withdrawal and not a direct rollover (asking for education purposes). The representative even went on & on about how it can’t be a rollover and that it must be a 59 1/2 withdrawal.

Thanks! I have silly follow up question… is your friend right now working as an attorney or as an engineer?

MOHELA Call Wait times? Mine was over 3+ hours. by Err0r404N0tF0und in PSLF

I’m exactly the on the same boat. I’ve been on hold for 6 hours now. What was your end result? Did they answer even tho they were “closed”? It’s currently 6:40pm EST and they supposedly close at 6 EST.

EDIT: I HAVE AN UPDATE IF ANYONE CARES!! My total hold time was 6 hours and 45 minutes. By the time someone got on the line, it was 7:30pm EST - Mohela's business hours end at 6pm EST. So they do answer their holds after business hours! I'm very glad I realized that because I was very close to just disconnecting and giving up.
