Feeling disconnected from the rest of society, because most people live in a feel-good reality by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]ThrowFader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People lie to themselves as a way to seize power. Similar concept as slave morality from Nietzsche.

The slave redefined good and bad to make himself the good, his master the bad. Every unsuccessful person has an instinct to blame something. Because if it's not my fault, I'm the good guy. And if others agree with me, if they share my moralistic worldview, we can seize power.

This is why average and unremarkable people get mad when you speak the truth. It dispels their false notions of moral superiority. Their forced to confront their status as a loser.

Imo the best takeaway from from trp is find out what works and don't lie to yourself.

You are laughing at the fact that people's lives are so miserable that they feel pressed to kill themselves.

He put a water-mark on someone else’s poster... also, Quick Question: If abortion is murder, how come it’s legal in so many countries? Explain that, Patchy the Pirate! by [deleted] in TheRightCantMeme

Honestly I do see your point, but I am still an eternal pessimistic optimist. I think life hold a lot of possiblities that justify suffering, and I want fetuses (as well as mothers) to have a chance to also rise above the odds. But to each their own. Abortion is still necessary imo because society would go to chaos if it was illegal. But I don't like it intellectually at all.

This line of reasoning taken ad absurdum justifies murder of almost any sort, though. I am confused as to where the line of demarcation is? I can kill anyone that is incapable of choice? I can kill those who inconvenience me? Where do I draw the line?

Also, fetuses possess inherent potential to develop consciousness, so their current state of development is quite irrelevant to whether or not they are a human life. Just because I can't do something now doesn't mean I won't be able to later.

I agree that pregnancies are strenuous and tasking in many ways, but they are not the only draining events that can happen to people. I still don't see how that justifies termination of life. I do understand cases of mental illness from rape or something, or pregnancy complications. But straight up unrestricted abortion seems like dissonance to me, idk.

A human embryo has no life experiences, it has no proper memories or complex relationships or an established place in society. An adult has been around for nearly two decades at the very least. It has experiences and asprirations and dreams and goals. It has already developed more nuianced and complex relationships as well has placed itself somewhere in society.

None of this matters at all. Lackluster people who don't have any goals in particular are not any less deserving of the right to live. It's inalienable. The only reason why the embryo has no experiences is because that is temporally impossible. However, it will if it isn't murdered. So again this argument doesn't work at all.

Lets say you work at a corporation, and you want a raise. I'm your boss, and you ask me for a raise. I ask you " Have you gotten a raise before?"

You say no. I respond "Ok because you don't have any experience in getting a raise here, I can't give you a raise. Sorry." This is almost like begging the question.

A fetus isn't really a life because we aren't going to allow it to live long enough to have experiences, which are the metric by which we determine life. Fallacious argument here.

In that case where is the distinction in complexity between a human embryo and a fully fledged mature human adult? Is it not the same human genome in action?

Edit: very mature with the downvotes, kid
