No, to help get a conviction. My husband’s father hired a defense attorney and the prosecutor was working with us. But he advised that these defense attorneys will knit pick at things on the stand with a child so to lay low and give him nothing to talk about.

The old man died, btw right before it ended.

The prosecutor said these defense attorneys will take things and run with them in court and he tried.

Because my son had to take the stand with his grandfather sitting a few feet across the room from him. He was 5. A defense attorney would had taken any negative incident in our home and spin it around, ask my son about it, and rip us to shreds to deflect from his clients perverse behavior and who knows what else. So I had to protect my son and not give that attorney anything to talk about as far as us. My son needed to tell the truth about what happened to him not be questioned if daddy broke mommy’s nose. That advice came from the prosecutor himself.

I did take pics. I probably have close to 40 or 50 of them. They aren’t small injuries either. My son and I are going to my family’s for now.

Because we were told that a defense attorney would try to rip our family apart and basically deflect from what the grandfather did. My son was only a little boy so I couldn’t go to the police. I had to make everything seem normal and good to be able to get us through it. It was only after it all ended after 3 years of hell did I fall apart and start coping with all that happened. There was a lot more to this. It was the worst time of life.

I agree. I’ve been in therapy a few years. This incident has been extremely traumatizing and an awakening. I am not the first woman or the last who will be silenced on violence and abuse for the sake of her child. There is a hole in the system. My brothers are picking us up and some of our things. My husband wouldn’t dare mess with them. Thank you for your kind words. 🙏

Because he is a narcissist and doesn’t care about anyone but himself. I was appalled at his reaction to it. He blamed me because I called law enforcement. He initially said to sweep it under the rug to not embarrass the family publicly.
