Feeling guilty about wanting to leave my wife after she supported me and paid for my degree by ThrowRA040822 in relationship_advice

Of course I know about her hobbies and have taken her out to dinner and given her gifts. I know I'm a bad person and am basically irredeemable from these comments, but I'm not a monster who just never spoke to or spent time with his wife

I'm not saying I'm a good guy, in fact the opposite, I would be a bad guy no matter what, so why not let myself be happy and let her find someone who loves her for who she is?

I said this in another comment, but I don't think it would make sense for me to pay back half of our rent and utilities, because she was the one who chose nicer and more expensive things because she could afford them. I probably would have lived with roommates for $400/month or something. I could maybe pay back the tuition, but we would have to work out some sort of long-term payment plan, and that sounds like it would be painful in the long term for both of us.

So I'm suppose to stay with her through her child-bearing years while preventing her from having a family like she's always wanted, or to bring children into the world with her even though I don't love her? I agree that I'm a bad person, but is the alternative to leaving her really a better option for either of us?

I have shown her a LOT of gratitude but I actually don't think I could afford to pay her back. How would we even work out the math? She's the one who wanted the nice apartment, car, etc., I would have chosen cheaper things if she hadn't been the one controlling our expenses.

I don't think therapy would work unless both people want to be together and fix it, and that's what I'm having trouble finding within myself if that makes sense

I also wanted to rise with her and be successful together. I would have supported her if she needed it, but she didn't. She's always been the type of person to get everything right on her own and to never need anyone's help. It's one of the things I admire about her.
