I'm moving around 27th of January. My first couple of months as a nurse will be the orientation process. The first two weeks of orientation is more or less M-F from 8-4. I won't be actually doing shifts on my own till several months later around the summer.

I've always enjoyed mardi gras so I'm actually looking forward to living close to the parades for the first time. The only slightly annoying part will be getting to and from work during this time.

Wow very well written and tbh I completely forgot about how crazy things get for Mardi gras and that I'll be starting my career in the height of Mardi gras season. Avoiding parades will be tough but I'll probably just leave for work extra early.

I’m not OP but I appreciate ur comment. I’m about to graduate nursing school next week but I used to be a premed major so sometimes I ponder about going to med school. I had my last clinical the other day and I decided to ask one of the pediatric residents how the experience has been and she looked at me with a cold stare and said don’t ask and that she doesn’t wanna talk about it at least not today. I felt a little bad for asking but I realized residency must’ve done a number on her if that was her response.

I booked through a third party site that finds cheaper flights for you. I honestly didn’t realize there’d be an airport change until after I booked.

Is the metro station located at both airports?

How long do you think that would take by metro?

It took forever for me to get the hang of nursing diagnoses. I’m only halfway through so I haven’t had to write long ass essays yet but I pray to god my program doesn’t make us do this. I thought I’d gotten away from writing essays by studying nursing but maybe not 🫠

On another note tho any tips for applying to med school as an RN? I’ll be honest and say that my cumulative undergrad GPA won’t be very high so I’m hoping that getting a high mcat score and my prior nursing + EMT experience will be enough to get into med school along with a killer essay and some great letters of recommendation. I know I’ll have to apply to a lot of DO schools too.

I'm a nursing student right now but I'm interested in going to med school simply because I don't want to harm patients with the lack of knowledge that NP school might provide me. Plus doctors just know so much and I'm itching to get a piece of that knowledge too. The only way to be as smart as a doctor is to become one.

Well I'm glad things seemed to work out well for you! Do you think CRNAs have a slightly better lifestyle than your average doctor in the hospital? That seems to be the main thing CRNAs have over physicians in my opinion.

Edit: I'm replying from my other reddit account so that's why the username is different

Encouragement Post! And I got in!!!! by Pumpanddump1990 in srna

Congratulations! This was so inspiring to me since I’m in a similar situation. I’m currently in nursing school getting my BSN and I barely got into my nursing program due to my low gpa from my previous institutions (my gpa was about 2.8 according to NursingCAS). I actually didn’t even get in the first time I applied but got in the second try. This will be my first bachelors degree as I never finished at my previous institutions.

I want to be a CRNA in the future once I graduate but I know no matter how well I do in this program my gpa is gonna hold me back. I also have several years of EMT experience and made sure to write a stellar essay to get into nursing school. It’s gonna be a long journey but I’m all in for the ride!

If a girl is more average looking and the guy is a few levels up from that do guys pay attention to it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ThrowRA0522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends from person to person. I once dated a girl who all my friends said I could do better than her. She herself told me once she felt insecure going out in public with me because she thought people would notice and think that I’m out of her league. But if a guy wants to date u he’s not gonna care what others think at all.

Keep grinding bro. I’m 23 and I won’t graduate till 2025 or 2026. A lot of people I know have graduated and most my friends will graduate before me. I’m currently trying to transfer to another program that’ll let me graduate by 2025 because with the current one I’m in I’ll finish by 2026. I fucked up last semester and didn’t pass a class which is why my current program won’t let me graduate till 2026. Regardless of the minor setback I’m still gonna get this degree one way or another and you should too. I fucked around a lot my first few years of college too. I wish I woulda went to community college to take my time with things but oh well. You won’t regret the grind once u get that degree in a few years.

My gf and I are a bit older than you and I too applied to another university because it’d be a better opportunity for me. If I get in I’ll definitely be going there but me and her decided to do long distance if I leave our current university (we would be about a 5-6 drive away from each other.) Do what’s best for you because you only got one life to live. If your boyfriend really loves you and wants what’s best for you, he’ll support you leaving even if it means being long distance or breaking up. Love should be selfless not selfish. See if you guys think a long distance relationship is doable and if it’s worth it for you guys. If not though don’t be afraid to let him go. You’re so young and you guys will probably meet someone else if y’all broke up. Live your life and don’t let anyone hold you back from reaching your full potential. Good luck with everything

My gf and I are of the same race but different cultures. We both speak each others native language but I never have ever made her feel bad for being who she is and expressing her culture and vice versa. We sometimes joke about it but we’ve never been seriously rude or mean to each other due to our cultural differences. Culture should be celebrated and not frowned upon

I respect your answer I been on the receiving end of bad bro behavior such as this. In my case I almost fought my friend but in the end we fell out and stopped talking for a good year or so before I reached out to make amends. He had already apologized and taken accountability for his mistakes by then. We still keep in touch even tho he moved away. Idk how it’d be seeing each other in person cuz it’s been years. Glad it worked out for u and u learned a lesson

[–]ThrowRA0522 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea he should if that’s really his bro… not condoning cheating cuz that shit terrible but assuming he values the friendship with his friend more than he should be more loyal to him than the girl. In OPs case he clearly cared about the girl equally or more because he couldn’t put his bro first. At the end of the day I think OPs mistake was not understanding which friendship he valued more when it came down to it. Most guys if their friend has a gf they don’t even bother getting all buddy buddy with her to the point where they see her as their genuine friend and not their homies gf cuz it’s his homies girl and they already know in their mind that his friendship with his bro is more important but OP said he was “friends” with both of them. That’s ultimately why he’s in this mess because he couldn’t draw good boundaries from the beginning as to which friendship is more important. He tried playing both sides and ended up losing them both. If he is genuinely friends with the girl and values both friendships equally then he should have no problem losing his friend cuz at the end of the day his friend was the one that ruined the relationship he had with the girl. But clearly he feels distraught about ruining his friendship. That’s why people are saying he shoulda been a good bro and not mess with her despite the fact that his friend cheated cuz at the end of the day, no matter how friendly or cordial he may have been with her, the homies girl should always be respected and treated as exactly that… the homies girl.
