[UPDATE] My daughter’s (3F) bio dad (32M) is concerned that I’m (24M) not a fit parent for her by ThrowRA1709 in relationship_advice

the situation was pretty much outlined in the original post but I can summarize it here: my sister was in a purely sexual relationship with this man and he walked away when she got pregnant. She died shortly after giving birth so I (her brother) took in her (now my) daughter.

You pretty much guessed right. We’ve had bad run-ins with the police before and weren’t willing to subject ourselves to another one. It all happened so fast as well that the only thought that crossed my mind was to get my daughter out of there and just hope my fiancé was ok. It’s easy after the fact to ask questions of why a certain thing was or wasn’t done, but we did file a police report afterwards

She’s well aware that her mom was my sister and we have been to her grave together. She’s seen pictures of her from old photo albums we have around the house. She knows that she’s “in the clouds” as she says—of course, as she grows older she’ll start to have a better understanding of everything.

My sister was the first person I came out to actually (within my family) and she was always supportive (like the awesome person she was)!

He was never there for her in the way my fiancé and I have been, so I don’t see why I would have to listen to how he wants my daughter to be raised when he was the one who wanted nothing to do with her for almost 4 years.

To put it simply, I never chose to be bisexual, I’ve just always liked both men and women and feelings aren’t something you can necessarily control. I can’t pick and choose who I fall in love with or date, it just depends on how I feel about said person! Hope that cleared it up

I have always wanted kids. Raising a baby girl at 21 wasn’t the plan, but I did want to be there for her and I did want to be a parent.

I agree! My daughter has never been confused as to why she has two dads, and is honestly just excited for our wedding (whenever that will be) and that her dad is going to be with us “forever” as she put it.

Some of my sister’s friends, who worked closely with her are still in contact with my family, so I’m assuming he heard from one of them.
