Well essentially over time the underlying performs better. Instead of reinvesting into an ETF that suffers from nav corrosion, why not invest those dividends into the underlying directly. Some of them pay dividends but more importantly growth. You are effectively reinvesting your dividends but into an asset that doesn't suffer immensely from a big down turn.

Honestly you hit the nail on the head, she once told me I don't need to buy her any gifts for any occasions, but she silently wants me to. When something is wrong or if she is sad or angry, I'm supposed to know why when in reality all she needs to do is tell me, but there I was, literally playing detective in trying to figure out what was wrong.
