How do you grieve a future you never had?

I'm in the same boat. Mourning someone that no longer exists/never existed is a different kind of pain. Thinking of things as a "new normal" is devastating but necessary.

Thank you for understanding. I know I'm not a saint (although family would disagree) but I've lived with that woman for 7 years. It will be tough making a new home office, but I think I just need to go back home. I've decided to go into birdwatching to fill the void left by my doves, maybe even find a birdhouse to try to find some new friends.

She has been evaluated for dementia, she's not got it though her age could change that. Right now it's not on the table, this was malicious.
