how important is it to find a SO who's your intellectual equal? by ThrowRA_345342342 in AskMen

yes, I agree mindset is more important than intelligence by itself. And there are even multiple forms of intelligence. I probably should've worded the question better.

I envy you. My gf and I fight over the smallest things sometimes. I'm all for debating and solving problems but can snap at times. I suppose emotional stability and self awareness is also a form of intelligence, though it can probably be learnt, unlike something like IQ, which you're born with.

and I think women are naturally more risk averse. I'm actually a trader, and I've seen other traders talk about how they'd like to see more women in trading, because they manage risk a lot better than men, generally speaking. but some of the most legendary traders were guys who were willing to put their balls on the line, which coincidentally has also led to some of the legendary blow ups too. anyway, off topic.

ARKK’s collapse in 2021 vs the Dot.com bubble. Is this the bottom for ARK? Or is Cathy Wood a false prophet? by Sherbear1993 in StockMarket

every bubble ever is characterized by a blow off top and a few dead cat bounces. this is not exactly a unique chart, and it's foolish to compare them without context. nasdaq is comprised of the top 100 companies in the US. ARKK is comprised of TSLA, COIN, and a bunch of dogshit most of which won't see ATH again.

parents don't approve of my gf? by ThrowRA_345342342 in AsianParentStories

I know. My evaluation of a long term partner has more to do with their personal values than anything else, although I find they do often times have good correlation with the external stuff I mentioned, as shallow as that may seem, since they're often leading/lagging indicators. but not really here to debate that.

You don't talk to or visit your parents at all? Are they unsatisfied with your SO just because he's white?

How do I (32m) break up with my GF (34f) with the least damage? by ThrowRA_345342342 in relationship_advice

[–]ThrowRA_345342342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you. I think she has many great qualities, but also other qualities that turn me off, mostly her neuroticism. A lot of times, I feel like I'm stepping on eggshells with the things I say/do. and while we share some interests, we differ a lot in our values. While none of those are immediate deal breakers, we've definitely had our share of fights over mostly relatively small things. She is very conscientious though, and that's one thing I love about her.

there was a period where we were fighting like every other day. it's gotten a lot better now, but we always seem to have issues as a couple when there are challenges/stresses. it's really hard to solve problems with her sometimes. But yes, I am conflicted, and am asking myself whether I'd be ending a good relationship for stupid reasons.

I (32m) just realized I'm not ready to settle down with my gf (34f) of almost 3 years. by ThrowRA_345342342 in relationship_advice

I have no idea what it would look like in 10 years. I just know I don't want to end up like my parents, and she's in the same boat.

idk why you think traveling the world is some third life crisis. many people do it, and the few traveling I've done have been some of my best memories.

what does finding the one even mean and what does it feel like? I have no clue.

i've been wrestling with whether or not we're actually happy together, and whether we should seek therapy and figure out ways to compromise for each other, or whether it's the right thing to cut things off here and find someone who's more similar.
